Ivan Pavlov
Ivan Petrovich Pavlov ( rus, Ива́н Петро́вич Па́влов, , p=ɪˈvan pʲɪˈtrovʲɪtɕ ˈpavləf, a=Ru-Ivan_Petrovich_Pavlov.ogg; 27 February 1936), was a Russian and Soviet experimental neurologist, psychologist and physiologist known for his discovery of classical conditioning through his experiments with dogs. Education and early life Ivan Petrovich Pavlov, the first of eleven children, was born in Ryazan, Russian Empire. His father, Peter Dmitrievich Pavlov (1823–1899), was a village Russian orthodox priest. His mother, Varvara Ivanovna Uspenskaya (1826–1890), was a devoted homemaker. As a child, Pavlov willingly participated in house duties such as doing the dishes and taking care of his siblings. He loved to garden, ride his bicycle, row, swim, and play gorodki; he devoted his summer vacations to these activities. Pavlov's Dog is a 1970s progressive rock/ AOR band formed in St. Louis, Missouri in 1972, named after Ivan Pavlov's major experimental animal in his work in classical conditioning. Pavlov (Kladno District)
Pavlov (; german: Paulow) is a municipality and village in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants. Geography Pavlov is located about southeast of Kladno and west of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape of the Prague Plateau. History The first written mention of Pavlov is from 1519, when there was a farm owned by the Saint Vitus Chapter in Hostouň (Kladno District), Hostouň. In 1726, the then-owner Ferdinand Kustod of Zubří and Lipka administratively connected 10 houses and a brewery from the surrounding settlements to the farm and created the Nový Dvůr manor. After the manor changed hands several times, it was bought by Leopold Paul in 1799. He had built a manor house and a settlement next to the farm, and named it after himself Pavlov (''Paulow'' in German). Pavlov (crater)
Pavlov is a lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon, approximately 143 kilometers in diameter. Located just to the north-northeast of it is the crater Levi-Civita while to the southeast is Jules Verne. Description The outer rim of Pavlov is somewhat worn and has been damaged in a few locations. There are outward bulges along the southern and eastern rim, and smaller bulges along the western side. Several small craters lie along the inner walls and the interior floor. Pavlov H is located along the east-southeastern edge of the floor. There is a small crater chain leading to the northwest of this satellite, culminating in a teardrop-shaped crater to the east of the midpoint of Pavlov.
