Northcote Football Club
Northcote Football Club (/ˈnoːθ.kət/), nicknamed The Dragons, was an Australian rules football club which played in the VFA from 1908 until 1987. The club's colours for most of its time in the VFA were green and yellow and it was based in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote. History The earliest mentions of a Northcote Football Club club appear in mid 1869. The club was established as a junior club, and it initially contested the Victorian Junior Football Association. The club played its games at Croxton Park until 1903, before moving to Northcote Park in 1904. The club was successful at junior level during the 1900s, winning premierships in 1904 and 1906. The club then joined senior football in the Victorian Football Association from the VJFA in 1908, and moved its home ground back to Croxton Park in 1909. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. Bill Koop
William Spehr Koop (21 March 1906 – 14 April 1950) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1920s. Koop did not make much of an impact at Carlton in his first three seasons and left Carlton in 1927 to coach Culcairn Football Club, NSW, before returning to Carlton in 1928. Koop played in two VFL Reserves premierships with Carlton in 1926 and 1928. Koop then had a successful career in the Victorian Football Association as a key position defender, he was a centre half-back in Northcote's 1929 premiership team. He was appointed as captain / coach of Prahran in January, 1931, but had to resign in March, 1931 at the request of the Police Commissioner. 1982 VFA Season
The 1982 Victorian Football Association season was the 101st season of the top division of the Australian rules football competition, and the 22nd season of second division competition. It was the first season of a restructured two-division competition, in which automatic promotion and relegation between the divisions was abandoned. Prahran Assumption Football Club (), nicknamed The Two Blues, is an Australian rules football club based at Toorak Park in Orrong Road between High Street and Malvern Road, Armadale, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Peter Grant Hay (9 July 1879 – 29 August 1961) was an Australian brewer, landowner, pastoralist and thoroughbred racehorse breeder. He founded the Richmond N.S. (Nathan System) Brewing Co. Ltd (Carlton & United Breweries) in Melbourne Australia. He is responsible for both the introduction of pasteurisation to Australia's dairy industry and the introduction of the Swiss Nathan System of brewing to Australia. Oakleigh Football Club
Oakleigh Football Club, nicknamed the Devils, was an Australian rules football club from Oakleigh which played in the VFA from 1929 until 1994. Oakleigh wore purple guernseys with a gold monogram thus giving them their original nickname the Purple and Golds.
