Newtype
is a monthly magazine publication originating from Japan, covering anime (and to a lesser extent, tokusatsu, manga, Japanese science fiction, seiyuu, and video games). It was launched by publishing company Kadokawa Shoten on March 8, 1985, with its April issue, and has since seen regular release on the 10th of every month in its home country. ''Newtype Korea'' is published in Korea. Spin-off publications of ''Newtype'' also exist in Japan, such as Newtype Hero/Newtype the Live (which are dedicated to tokusatsu) and ''NewWORDS'' (which is geared toward a more mature adult market), as well as numerous limited-run versions (such as ''Clamp Newtype''). The name of the magazine comes from the "Newtypes" in the Universal Century timeline of the ''Gundam'' series, specifically ''Mobile Suit Gundam'' (1979) and its sequel ''Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam'' (1985). Clamp (manga Artists)
Clamp (stylized as CLAMP) is an all-female Japanese manga artist group, consisting of leader and writer Nanase Ohkawa (born in Osaka), and three artists whose roles shift for each series: Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi (all born in Kyoto). Clamp was first formed in the mid-1980s as an eleven-member group creating ''dōjinshi'' (self-published fan works), and began creating original manga in 1987. By the time the group made its mainstream publishing debut with ''RG Veda'' in 1989, it was reduced to seven members; three more members left in 1993, leaving the four current members of the group. Lagoon Engine Einsatz
is a manga by Yukiru Sugisaki. It was followed by ''Lagoon Engine Einsatz''. The main protagonists are Yen and Jin Ragun. The name "Lagoon Engine" is derived from the phonetic pronunciation of the main characters' names (Ragun Yen Jin). Volume 6 was released on December 1, 2009. Volume 7 was released in September 2010 in the US. Plot ''Lagoon Engine'' revolves around two characters: 12-year-old Yen, and 11-year-old Jin. Monica Jean Rial (born October 5, 1975) is an American voice actress and ADR script writer affiliated with Funimation and Seraphim Digital/ Sentai Filmworks. She provides voices for English language versions of Japanese anime films and television series. Career Rial's first voice-over role was some walla in the 1999 dub of '' Martian Successor Nadesico''. Jonathan Michael Clements (born 9 July 1971) is a British author and scriptwriter. His non-fiction works include biographies of Confucius, Koxinga and Qin Shi Huang, as well as monthly opinion columns for ''Neo'' magazine. He is also the co-author of encyclopedias of anime and Japanese television dramas. Background Clements speaks both Chinese and Japanese, and many of his works relate to East Asia.
