Nepalis (English: Nepalese ; ne, नेपाली) are the citizens of Nepal under the provisions of Nepali nationality law. The country is home to people of many different national origins who are the descendants of immigrants from India, Kashmir, Central Asia, and Tibet. The term Nepalis (Nepalese) usually refers to the ''nationality'', that is, to people with citizenship of Nepal, while the people without Nepalese citizenship but with roots in Nepal such as Nepalese Americans are strictly referred to as ''Nepali Speaking Foreigners'' ( ne, नेपाली भाषी विदेशी) who are speakers of Bhojpuri, Maithili, Nepali or any of the other 128 Nepalese languages but are now foreign citizens or of foreign nationality bearing passports and citizenship of the foreign nation. Overseas Nepalis or Non-Resident Nepalis are Nepali people who live outside the South Asian nation of Nepal. Nepalis in Saudi Arabia are immigrants from Nepal to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, mostly migrant workers and expatriates. Saudi Arabia has emerged as one of the top destinations for migrant Nepalese laborers. Nepalese Canadians or Nepali Canadians are Canadians with roots in Nepal. Migration history Nepalese are recent immigrants in Canada and their numbers are relatively small. Nepalis In Hong Kong
There is a moderately medium sized ethnic minority population of Nepalese people in Hong Kong (referred to as 'Hong Kong Nepalese'), forming roughly 4% of the total ethnic minorities population (approximately 29000 (According to census of 2016 - total 18094, but many others have already received British and Hong Kong citizenship which counts approximately around 10000)).
