''Next'' is a short film created by Aardman Animations. Its full title is "Next: The Infinite Variety Show." Plot William Shakespeare auditions for an undetermined role in front of a bored Peter Hall with references to his play in under five minutes. Cast *Barry Purves - ''Will, a poor player (animation)'' *Roger Rees - ''Peter, a Producer (voice)'' Production The film was commissioned by Channel 4 as part of a 5-part series of Aardman animations called " Lip Synch": Creature Comforts (1989), Going Equipped (1990), Ident (1990), Next (1990) and War Story (1989). Peter was voiced by Roger Rees and is reading one of Hall's books. The halo indicates that he represents Saint Peter, and that Shakespeare is auditioning to get into Heaven. ''Next'' is a dating game show produced by Kallissa Miller with her production company Kallissa Productions, which ran on MTV from 2005 to 2008. Format ''Next'' dealt with a contestant going on sequential blind dates with possibly up to five other single people, known as "the daters", who were secluded on a RV, referred to as the "Next Bus". The added twist was that the date could end at any time by the contestant shouting "next". Each episode featured two segments, featuring a single man or woman as the prime contestant, and five other single men or women as the daters. The segment began with the prime contestant describing themselves to the audience. They would usually explain a hobby that they enjoy and what they like and dislike in a person, often chiding that they would "next" a person if they had this attribute. ''1987'' was produced using extensive unauthorised samples that plagiarised a wide range of musical works, continuing a theme begun in the JAMs' debut single " All You Need Is Love". These samples provided a deliberately provocative backdrop for beatbox rhythms and cryptic, political raps.
