The Nanjing University of Science and Technology (), colloquially NJUST (), is one of the National Key Universities under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. It is a science-oriented university located in Xuanwu District in the east suburban area of Nanjing. The university is included in the Chinese state Double First Class University Plan. History The Nanjing University of Science and Technology can be traced back to 1953, as Department of Artillery Engineering of Institute of Military Engineering of the PLA (People's Liberation Army) in Harbin. National Key University
National Key Universities () previously referred to universities recognized as prestigious and which received a high level of support from the central government of the People's Republic of China. The term is no longer in official use by 1990s. The term "zhòngdiǎn" 重点, translated here as "key," in this phrase can also be translated as "major," "priority," or "focal." The term "National Key Universities" then became defunct, and these schools are now normally referred to as " Double First Class Universities“, based on the China state Double First Class University Plan. Wang Zeshan (; born 10 October 1935) is a Chinese scientist, who specializes in development of new explosives. He is a full professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Often called the “King of Explosives” and “Chinese Alfred Nobel”, his research had significant impact on both civilian and military application of explosives, and he is credited with helping to increase the launch range of Chinese's artillery by more than 20 percent. The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE, ) is the national academy of the People's Republic of China for engineering. It was established in 1994 and is an institution of the State Council of China. Xianlin University City (), colloquially known as Xianlin (), is a community in Nanjing, China, featuring a bunch of leading higher education institutions. It is located in the middle of Qixia District and to the northeast of Purple Mountain, 15 kilometers (approx. 9 miles) from Xinjiekou, the central business area of the city. Chinese Units Of Measurement
Chinese units of measurement, known in Chinese as the ''shìzhì'' ("market system"), are the traditional units of measurement of the Han Chinese. Although Chinese numerals have been decimal (base-10) since the Shang, several Chinese measures use hexadecimal (base-16). Local applications have varied, but the Chinese dynasties usually proclaimed standard measurements and recorded their predecessor's systems in their histories. In the present day, the People's Republic of China maintains some customary units based upon the market units but standardized to round values in the metric system, for example the common ''jin'' or catty of exactly 500 g. Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum () is situated at the foot of the second peak of Purple Mountain (Nanjing), Purple Mountain in Nanjing, China. Construction of the tomb started in January 1926, and was finished in spring of 1929. The architect was Lü Yanzhi, who died shortly after it was finished. Purple Mountain (Nanjing)
Purple Mountain or Zijin Shan () is located on the eastern side of Nanjing in Jiangsu province, China. It is 448.2 m (1467 ft) high. Its peaks are often found enveloped in purple and golden clouds at dawn and dusk, hence its name. A small mountain with an area of about 20 square kilometers (4,900 acres), the altitude of Purple Mountain at the top and foot of the mountain is about 449 m and 20 m respectively. The annual average rainfall is 1,000 mm to 1,050 mm, and the average annual sunshine time is about 2,213 hours. Purple Mountain is a mountain related to many historical events of both ancient and modern China.
