Mymensingh ( bn, ময়মনসিংহ) is the capital of Mymensingh Division, Bangladesh. Located on the bank of Brahmaputra River, about north of the national capital Dhaka, it is a major financial center and educational hub of north-central Bangladesh. The city was constituted by the British East India Company on 1 May,1787. Mymensingh is the 8th administrative divisional headquarter and 12th city corporation of Bangladesh. According to Ministry of Public Administration, Mymensingh is ranked 4th in district status. Mymensingh City Corporation
Mymensingh City Corporation is the municipal government of the city of Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The city is located about north of Dhaka, the capital of the country. Mymensingh Municipality was upgraded to a city corporation, the country's 12th, on 2 April 2018 at a meeting of the National Implementation Committee on Administrative Reforms (NICAR), after satisfying all eight criteria for forming a city corporation. At the time, Cabinet Division Secretary (Coordination and Reforms) NM Ziaul Alam declared that the new city corporation would consist of Mymensingh Municipality, two whole union parishads, and parts of six others, out of the thirteen union parishads of Mymensingh Sadar Upazila. Mymensingh Division
Mymensingh Division ( bn, ময়মনসিংহ বিভাগ) is one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. It has an area of and a population of 11,370,000 as of the 2011 census. It was created in 2015 from districts previously composing the northern part of Dhaka Division. Its headquarters are in Mymensingh city in Mymensingh District. History The Greater Mymensingh region (Mymensingh District along with five other neighbouring districts) was created as a Mymensingh district by the British Indian government in 1787. Later it was reorganized in two phases into six districts: Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Netrakona, Jamalpur, Tangail, and Sherpur. Zainul Abedin Museum
Zainul Shah Ali Abedin Sangrahashala (alternate: Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala; translation: "Great Teacher of the Arts" Zainul Abedin "Art Gallery") is an art museum in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Established in 1975, it contains the collections of the artist ''Shilpacharya'' Zainul Abedin (1914–1976). The art gallery was established in Mymensingh as this is where the artist spent his early days. Abedin, a pioneer of the country's modern art movement, created works of art on subject matters such as the Bengal famine of 1943 and the peoples' independence. Maimansingha Gitika ( bn, মৈমনসিংহ গীতিকা), en, Maimansingha Ballads), is a collection of folk ballads from the region of Mymensingh, Bangladesh. They were published in English as ''Eastern Bengal Ballads''. Dinesh Chandra Sen collected the songs, and Dinesh Chandra Sen was the editor; the collection was published by the University of Calcutta, along with another similar publication named ''Purbabanga-gitika''.
