Physical culture and sports football club Merw ( tk, link=no, Merw bedenterbiýe-sport futbol kluby), also known as Merw Mary, is a Turkmen professional football club based in Mary. They play in the national top division; the Ýokary Liga. Their home stadium is Mary Stadium. Historical names *until 1966 – Lokomotiv *1967 – Murgab *1968–1989 – Garagum (Kara-Kum) *1990-until now – Merw History In 1967–1969 and 1990–1991, the team played in the Soviet Second League. The first big success of Merw FK after the collapse of the USSR came when they reached the final of the Turkmenistan Cup in 1993. In the final, they lost to Köpetdag Aşgabat with a score of 0:4. A year later, the team were the bronze prize-winner of the 1994 Ýokary Liga and took part in the preliminary round of the Asian Cup Winners' Cup 1994/95 season. Sport Toplumy Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Mary, Turkmenistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home stadium for FC Merw. The stadium holds 10,000 people. AFC Cup
The AFC Cup is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Under its current rules, the competition is played primarily between clubs from nations that did not receive direct qualifying slots in the top-tier AFC Champions League, based on the AFC Club Competitions Ranking. Al-Kuwait SC and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya are the most successful clubs in the competition's history, having won three titles each. 2015 Turkmenistan Cup
The 2015 Turkmenistan Cup ( tk, Türkmenistanyň Kubogy 2015) was the 22nd season of the Turkmenistan Cup knockout tournament. Performed by the system of leaving since the quarterfinals, except commands FC Merw, FC Köpetdag, FC Daşoguz and FC Energetik Türkmenbaşy, they began the tournament with a preliminary stage. The preliminary stage of the tournament was launched August 1, 2015. The final match will held 15 December 2015. The cup champion wins a spot in the 2016 Turkmenistan Supercup final. The 2009 Turkmenistan Higher League (Ýokary Liga) season was the seventeenth season of Turkmenistan's professional football league. It began on 25 April 2009 with the first round of games and ended on 7 November 2009 with the 18th round of matches. FC Aşgabat is the defending champions. The first half of the season finished on 27 June 2009. The kick-off of the second half was on 4 September 2009.
