Megen
Megen or Meghem is a small city in the southern part of the Netherlands, in the province North Brabant, close to the river Maas. It is part of the Oss municipality. The number of inhabitants is approximately 1700. History Megen used to be the capital of the feudal county of Megen (including Haren, Macharen and Teeffelen) that was founded around 1145. City rights were obtained in 1357. Of the two castles Megen used to have, only one tower is remaining. In 1810, the County Megen became a municipality, to which Haren and Macharen were added in 1821. The Apostolic Vicariate of Ravenstein-Megen was a short-lived pre-diocesan Latin Catholic jurisdiction in a small southern part of the Netherlands. Haren, North Brabant
Haren is a village in the municipality of Oss in the province of North Brabant, Netherlands. The village was first mentioned in 1191 as "Egenus de Haren", and means "sandy ridge". The chapel of the monastery of the Sisters of St. Francis was built in 1520. The monastery is surrounded by a moat and was buildings from the 17th century. The Catholic St Lambertus Church was built between 1867 and 1868 in Gothic Revival style. Haren was home to 485 people in 1840. Before it became a part of the municipality Oss in 1994, Haren was a municipality together with Macharen and Megen. The Poor Clares, officially the Order of Saint Clare ( la, Ordo sanctae Clarae) – originally referred to as the Order of Poor Ladies, and later the Clarisses, the Minoresses, the Franciscan Clarist Order, and the Second Order of Saint Francis – are members of a contemplative Order of nuns in the Catholic Church.
