Mediacorp Pte. Ltd., doing business as Mediacorp and stylised as mediacorp, is a media conglomerate in Singapore. Owned by Temasek Holdings—the holding company of the Government of Singapore—it owns television, radio, and digital media properties in the country. Mediacorp forms one half of the mass media duopoly in the country, alongside SPH Media Trust. Its logo is the geometric M with rainbow palette. Caldecott Hill
Caldecott Hill is a private housing estate, located along Thomson Road in the Central Region of Singapore. It is tied to the growth of the media industry in Singapore. In the past, Singapore's broadcast station, Mediacorp was located there. The Caldecott Broadcast Centre opened in 1954. In 2017, Mediacorp moved to its new campus on Stars Avenue, one-north. After Mediacorp moved, the old campus at Andrew Road was left abandoned until October 2020 where they appointed real estate consultants to market the area to hold 67 bungalow plots. In December 2020, the land was sold for $280.9million to a private estate company. It was also referred to as "The Hill" by the local media and Mediacorp employees. Channel 8 ( zh, 8頻道) is a Singaporean free-to-air television channel, airing in Mandarin Chinese. It was created by Television Singapura on 31 August 1963 with experimental broadcasts, before going official on 23 November that year. The channel's logo is a yellow number 8 on top of a red disc. History Channel 8 began its test transmissions on Saturday, 31 August 1963, Malaysia's national day. Its first day consisted of a Hokkien film, repeats of India's participation in the South East Asian Cultural Festival and Singapore Celebrates. The mass media in Singapore refers to mass communication methods through broadcasting, publishing, and the Internet available in the city-state. Singapore's media environment is dominated by two major players, Mediacorp and SPH Media Trust. Comprising the publishing, print, broadcasting, film, music, digital, and IT media sectors, the media industry collectively employed about 38,000 people and contributed 1.56% to Singapore's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2001 with an annual turnover of S$10 billion. Radio Televisyen Malaysia ( en, Radio Television of Malaysia, abbreviated as RTM, stylised as rtm), also known as the Department of Broadcasting, Malaysia ( ms, Jabatan Penyiaran Malaysia) is the national public broadcaster of Malaysia. Established on 1 April 1946 as Radio Malaya, it is the first and the oldest broadcaster in the country. After Malaysia was formed on 16 September 1963, Radio Malaya was renamed Radio Malaysia. Yusof bin Ishak (12 August 191023 November 1970) was a Singaporean politician and journalist who served as the first president of Singapore from 1965 until his death in 1970. Prior to becoming head of state, Yusof was a well-known journalist who co-founded '' Utusan Melayu'', a daily newspaper that was in circulation until 9 October 2019. He started journalism after graduating from Raffles Institution in 1929, and joined ''Warta Malaya'', a well-known Malay newspaper company, in 1932. He left the company in 1938 and co-founded ''Utusan Melayu''. Yusof held many appointments within the Singapore Government.
