Maximum Overdrive
''Maximum Overdrive'' is a 1986 American comedy horror film written and directed by Stephen King. The film stars Emilio Estevez, Pat Hingle, Laura Harrington, and Yeardley Smith. The screenplay was inspired by and loosely based on King's short story "Trucks", which was included in the author's first collection of short stories, '' Night Shift'', and follows the events after all machines (including cars, trucks, radios, drones, arcades, vending machines, etc.) become sentient when Earth crosses the tail of a comet, initiating a world-wide killing spree. The film is King's only directorial effort, though dozens of films have been based on his novels or short stories. It contained black humor elements and a generally campy tone, which contrasts with King's somber subject matter in books. In 1980, ''Night Shift'' won the Balrog Award for Best Collection, and in 1979 it was nominated as best collection for the Locus Award and the World Fantasy Award. The Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as the Razzies and Razzie Awards) is a parody award show honoring the worst of cinematic under-achievements. Co-founded by UCLA film graduates and film industry veterans John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy, the Razzie Awards' satirical annual ceremony has preceded its opposite, the Academy Awards, for four decades. The term ''raspberry'' is used in its irreverent sense, as in "blowing a raspberry". "Who Made Who" is a song and a single by the Australian hard rock band AC/DC, taken from their 1986 album, ''Who Made Who''. The 12-inch single format of the single features an extended mix of the song and can be found in the Deluxe Edition of AC/DC's '' Backtracks Boxset'', on Disc 1, Studio Rarities. It was one of only three new tracks on ''Who Made Who'', because the album is not only a soundtrack to Stephen King's ''Maximum Overdrive'', but a compilation album featuring tracks from previous albums. ''Who Made Who'' is a soundtrack album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. Released on 26 May 1986, the album is the soundtrack to the Stephen King film ''Maximum Overdrive''. The album was re-released in 2003 as part of the ''AC/DC Remasters'' series. Background Three tracks on the album – " Who Made Who" and the instrumentals "D.T." and "Chase the Ace" – were newly written and recorded by AC/DC for the album. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Camp (style)
Camp is an aesthetic style and sensibility that regards something as appealing because of its bad taste and ironic value. Camp aesthetics disrupt many of modernism's notions of what art is and what can be classified as high art by inverting aesthetic attributes such as beauty, value, and taste through an invitation of a different kind of apprehension and consumption.
