Manoto
Manoto ( Persian: من و تو ) is an international free-to-air Persian language general entertainment channel launched in October 2010, owned by Marjan Television Network. It is based in London and its programs include documentaries, films, series, news and reports. Overview Marjan Television Network was established by Kayvan Abbassi and Marjan Abbassi. Manoto's funding comes from venture capitalists, according to a 2011 report on human rights and information access in Iran by the Foreign Policy Centre, a UK-based independent think tank. The report did not name the venture capital firms behind the station. However, many Iranian analysts believe that the channel is promoting Iran's ousted monarchy. Kayvan and Marjan Abbassi, the UK-based Iranian couple who launched Manoto 1, in 2010, stay out of the media spotlight. Faegheh Atashin ( fa, فائقه آتشین; born 5 May 1950), known professionally as Googoosh ( fa, گوگوش, ), is an Iranian singer and former actress. One of the most popular and prolific entertainers in Iran, her career has spanned over six decades. Googoosh has enjoyed significant popularity since the beginning of her career, ultimately becoming a cultural icon inside Iran and abroad. She is mainly known for her contributions to Iranian pop music, but she also starred in a variety of Persian movies from the 1950s to the 1970s. Sepideh ( fa, سپیده; born 14 January 1975) is an Iranian-born singer. She has recorded and toured around the world multiple times, performing songs in multiple languages including Persian, English, Armenian, Arabic, and Turkish. Personal life Sepideh was born in Tehran, Iran and is of Kurdish descent on her father's side. She moved with her family to the Washington D.C. area in the late 1980s.
