The Mamund (or Mamond) ( ur, , ps, ) is a Pashtun clan which is a part of the larger Tarkani tribe. The clan is located principally in the Watelai valley (also known as Mamund Valley), Bajaur, but also owns villages on both sides of the Durand Line. Majority of the Mamund Pashtuns live in Mamund Subdivision, Loi Mamund Tehsil and Wara Mamund Tehsil, Bajaur, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Pakistan and in Marawara, Asadabad, Shigal, Watapur and Ghazi Abad Districts of Kunar Province Kunar (Pashto: ; Dari: ) is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan, located in the northeastern part of the country. Kakazai
The Kakazai ( ps, کاکازي / ککےزي / ککازي, Urdu, fa, ), also known as Loi, Loe, or Loye Mamund ( ps, لوی ماموند; ur, لو ئے / لوئی مَاموند ), a division of the Mamund clan, are part of the larger Tarkani ( ترکاڼي) tribe who are primarily settled in Bajaur Agency, Pakistan, but originally hailed from the Laghman province of Afghanistan. However, it has grown and scattered around to such an extent that it is recognized as tribe of its own. Mamund Subdivision
Mamund Tehsil ( ps, ماموند) is a subdivision located in Bajaur District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Mamund is the largest tehsil of district Bajaur. History Bajaur was declared as a subdivision of the former Malakand Agency in 1960, and Mamund was established as a tehsil within the Bajaur subdivision. Bajaur was declared a Federally Administered Tribal Agency in December 1973. Mamund Subdivision joined Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 31, 2018 with the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. It was previously a tehsil before the FATA Interim Governance Regulation, 2018 was signed by President Mamnoon Hussain. With FATA's merger to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, its status was upgraded to a subdivision. Bajaur District
Bajaur District ( ps, باجوړ ولسوالۍ, ur, ) is a district in Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Until 2018, it was an agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, then during restructuring that merged FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it became a district. According to the 2017 census, the population of the district is 1,093,684. It borders Afghanistan's Kunar Province with a 52 km border. The headquarters of the agency administration is located in the town of Khar. Geography Bajaur is about long by broad. It lies at a high elevation to the east of the Kunar Valley of Afghanistan and Pakistan, from which it is separated by a continuous line of rugged frontier hills, forming a barrier that is easily passable at one or two points. The western end runs to the border with Iran and the eastern end to the border with China.
