Maj Sjöwall
Maj Sjöwall (; 25 September 1935 – 29 April 2020) was a Swedish author and translator. She is best known for her books about police detective Martin Beck. She wrote the books in collaborative work with her partner Per Wahlöö. Biography Maj Sjöwall was the daughter of Margit Trobäck and CEO Will Sjöwall. After completing school Sjöwall was employed at Åhlén & Åkerlunds publishers between 1954 and 1959, Wahlström & Widstrands publishers between 1959 and 1961 and then Esselte publishers between 1961 and 1963. Sjöwall was best known for the collaborative work with her partner Per Wahlöö on a series of ten novels about the exploits of Martin Beck, a police detective in Stockholm. They also wrote several novels separately. In 1971, the fourth of the Beck books, '' The Laughing Policeman'' (a translation of ''Den skrattande polisen'', originally published in 1968) won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Novel; the book was also adapted into ... Jan Myrdal’s big prize – The Lenin Award is a Swedish cultural award that is awarded annually by Lasse Diding to a writer or artist in Sweden who operates with social criticism and in a rebellious leftist tradition. In 2016, the award was called the Jan Myrdal Library's big prize – the Lenin Award and in 2017-2021 the award was just called the Lenin Award. Background With its 100,000 SEK, the award is one of Sweden's largest literary awards. The award winner, who can be nominated by anyone and until 2017 was chosen by the board of the Jan Myrdal Society, should, when the Jan Myrdal Society gave out the award, be a Swedish "writer or artist working in Jan Myrdal's critical and rebellious tradition". Peter Haber
Peter Alexander Haber (born 12 December 1952) is a Swedish actor. His father was German, his mother Swedish. He grew up in Skåne, Sweden, and in Remscheid, Germany. In 1987 he was hired by the Stockholm City Theatre where he was active until 1994. At the 29th Guldbagge Awards, he was nominated for the Best Actor award for his role in '' Sune's Summer''. The most famous roles that Haber has played are the father Rudolf in the series '' Sune'', Carl Hamilton in '' Fiendens fiende'' (''Enemy's Enemy'') and Martin Beck from 1997–2021 in the eponymous film series. Since her neighbor Folke Bengtsson has an earlier conviction for the murder of an American tourist named Roseanna McGraw, he is naturally suspected of having a connection to the woman's disappearance. He begins his investigation by looking into the previous murder of Roseanna, and the man he himself got convicted of it. ''The Fire Engine That Disappeared'' (''Brandbilen som försvann'') is a mystery novel by Swedish writers Sjöwall and Wahlöö, published in 1969. It is the fifth book in the '' Martin Beck'' detective series. In the novel a house fire, which kills three people, was about to be written off as the result of a tenant's gas suicide when a forensics officer discovers a firebomb in the rubble that would have certainly killed the tenant had he not killed himself.
