LYRtech inc. () is a digital signal processing development company based in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Lyrtech designs and produces electronics systems for audio processing, video processing, networking, voice over IP processing, and wireless communications. Lyrtech also develops aerospace and military electronics for applications including geolocation, missile warning systems, and laser warning receivers. In November 2006, Lyrtech released a small form factor software-defined radio development platform in partnership with Texas Instruments and Xilinx. A laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation. Software-defined radio (SDR) is a radio communication system where components that have been traditionally implemented in analog hardware (e.g. mixers, filters, amplifiers, modulators/demodulators, detectors, etc.) are instead implemented by means of software on a personal computer or embedded system. While the concept of SDR is not new, the rapidly evolving capabilities of digital electronics render practical many processes which were once only theoretically possible.
