A police tactical unit (PTU) is a specialized police unit trained to handle situations that are beyond the capabilities of ordinary law enforcement units because of the level of violence (or risk of violence) involved. Grupo Alacrán
The Grupo Alacrán (''Scorpion Group'') is a police tactical unit of the Argentine National Gendarmerie, often referred as the ''Equipo Antiterrorista de Gendarmería'' (Gendarmerie Counter-terrorism Team). The division is headquartered in Evita City and responds to high-risk and counterterrorist situations throughout Argentina, but primarily in the rural areas. Argentine National Gendarmerie
The Argentine National Gendarmerie ( es, Gendarmería Nacional Argentina, GNA) is the national gendarmerie force and corps of border guards of the Argentine Republic. It has a strength of 70,000. The gendarmerie is primarily a frontier guard force but also fulfils other important roles. The force functions from what are today five regional headquarters at Campo de Mayo, Córdoba, Rosario, San Miguel de Tucumán and Bahía Blanca. The 1er Batallón de Combate-Grupo Especial Uno (''1st Combat Battalion-Special Group One'', GE-1) is a tactical assault division of the Argentine Federal Police. It depends directly of the Infantry Guard Corps, and its motto is ''Nihil Obstat'' (Nothing Hinders). The unit was established under the denomination of Special Combat Teams in 1978, when Argentina hosted the Football World Cup. Ten years later, in 1988, the division changed its name to Police Operations Group and officially became the premier counterterrorism team of the Federal Police. The Grupo Especial de Operaciones Federales (''Federal Operations Special Group'', GEOF) is a police tactical unit of the Policía Federal Argentina trained to strategically perform counterterrorist and counternarcotics missions. Research And Intervention Brigade (Algeria)
The Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) is a shock group inspired by the French BIS. The BIS was created in 2005 to replace the Police Special Intervention Unit (UISP) which was disbanded earlier. History The BRI officially replaced the then elite UISP in 2005.
