Cassopolis, Michigan
Cassopolis is a village in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Cass County. It is located mostly in LaGrange Township with a small portion extending east into Penn Township. The village and county are named after statesman Lewis Cass, a New Hampshire native and a prominent U.S. senator from Michigan prior to the American Civil War. Diamond Lake, one of the 100 largest inland lakes in Michigan, is located in Cassopolis. Cassopolis is part of the South Bend– Mishawaka, IN-MI, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,774 at the 2010 census. Cassopolis was platted by European Americans in 1831. It had already been designated the county seat by that point. Cassville, Wisconsin
Cassville is a village in Grant County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 777 at the 2020 census. The village is located along the Mississippi River, opposite from the mouth of the Turkey River. It is surrounded by the Town of Cassville. Etymology The village was named after Lewis Cass, the governor of Michigan Territory from 1813 to 1831. The name has been used by the community since at least 1828, when the post office was established by Allen Hill. History The site of Cassville was occupied by the Meskwaki people before European settlement. In 1820, Henry Schoolcraft observed a Meskwaki village consisting of twelve substantial log lodges and cultivated fields in the locality. The Euro-American settlement of Cassville began in 1827, when Judge John Sawyer of Illinois established a smelting furnace to serve lead miners who were expanding northward from Galena, Illinois. Cassville is a city in Flat Creek Township, Barry County, Missouri, United States. According to the 2020 census, the population of Cassville was 3,190. Cassville is one of the primary markets and job centers for an estimated 14,000 people living in the surrounding area. It is the county seat of Barry County.
