This is a partial list of people who have spoken or otherwise presented at official TED conferences such as TED, TED@, TEDActive, TEDCity, TED-Ed, TED-NY, TEDGlobal, TEDSummit, TEDIndia, TEDSalon, TEDWomen, TEDYouth, TED Fellows Retreat, and TED Talks Education. It also includes speakers at the independent TEDMED conferences. Talks from the independent TEDx conferences are not included since there are thousands of such events (over 11,000 held and over 1,100 upcoming ) making them less notable. The TED.com website also hosts videos from conferences not affiliated with TED, but those talks and speakers are not included in this list. TED (conference)
TED Conferences, LLC (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an American-Canadian non-profit media organization that posts international talks online for free distribution under the slogan "ideas worth spreading". TED was founded by Richard Saul Wurman and Harry Marks in February 1984 as a tech conference, in which gave a demo of the compact disc that was invented in October 1982. It has been held annually since 1990. TED covers almost all topics – from science to business to global issues – in more than 100 languages. To date, more than 13,000 TEDx events have been held in at least 150 countries. TED's early emphasis was on technology and design, consistent with its Silicon Valley origins. It has since broadened its perspective to include talks on many scientific, cultural, political, humanitarian, and academic topics. Ray Anderson (entrepreneur)
Ray C. Anderson (July 28, 1934 – August 8, 2011) was founder and chairman of Interface Inc., one of the world's largest manufacturers of modular carpet for commercial and residential applications and a leading producer of commercial broadloom and commercial fabrics. He was known in environmental circles for his advanced and progressive stance on industrial ecology and sustainability. Anderson died on August 8, 2011, twenty months after being diagnosed with cancer. On July 28, 2012, Anderson's family re-launched the Ray C. Anderson Foundation. with a new purpose. Originally created to fund Ray Anderson's personal philanthropic giving, family members announced the rebirth and refocus of the Foundation on Anderson's birthday, nearly one year after his 2011 death. Chris Anderson (born July 9, 1961) is an English-American author and entrepreneur. He was with ''The Economist'' for seven years before joining ''Wired'' magazine in 2001, where he was the editor-in-chief until 2012. He is known for his 2004 article entitled "The Long Tail", which he later expanded into the 2006 book, '' The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More''. He is the cofounder and current CEO of 3D Robotics, a drone manufacturing company. Life and work Early life Anderson was born in London. His family moved to the United States, when he was five. He enrolled for a degree program in physics from George Washington University and went on to study quantum mechanics and science journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. Chris Anderson (born 1957) is a British-American businessman who is the head of TED, a non-profit organization that provides idea-based talks and hosts an annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Previously he founded Future Publishing. Early life Anderson was born to British parents in Pakistan in 1957. His father was "an eye surgeon and evangelical Christian", and ran a mobile hospital in rural Pakistan. He has two sisters, and is the middle child. He studied at Woodstock School in the Himalayan mountains of Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India briefly, before moving to Monkton Combe School, a boarding school in Bath, England. Lemon Andersen
Lemon Andersen (born Andrew Andersen; April 21, 1975) is an American poet, spoken word artist and actor. He is sometimes credited as Lemon. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he still resides there. He is the son of Milagros "Mili" Quiñones, from Puerto Rico, and Peter Andersen, a Norwegian-American from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Growing up in poverty, as a teenager Lemon experienced the successive deaths of his stepfather, father, and mother from complications of heroin abuse and AIDS, leaving him and his older brother orphaned and forced to fend for themselves. Marco Alverà (born August 1975) is an Italian businessman and CEO of TES-H2 since June 2022. Education Alverà studied at the London School of Economics, where he earned a degree in Philosophy and Economics in 1997. Career Alverà began his career at Goldman Sachs in London., working in private equity focused on internet and technology startups and mergers and acquisitions focused on consumer and retail assets. Uri Alon
Uri Alon (Hebrew: אורי אלון; born 1969) is a Professor and Systems Biologist at the Weizmann Institute of Science. His highly cited research investigates gene expression, network motifs and the design principles of biological networks in ''Escherichia coli'' and other organisms using both computational biology and traditional experimental wet laboratory techniques. Education Alon earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Allende has been called "the world's most widely read Spanish-language author."
