Leikhamton
''Leikhamton'' is a 2014 Manipuri film directed by Tej Kshetri and produced by Th. Leishang. It stars Maya Choudhury as the titular protagonist with Gokul Athokpam and Sushmita Mangsatabam in the lead roles. The story and screenplay of the film was written by Ksh. Subadani. Poirei Thokchom composed the soundtrack and Ksh. Subadani and Tej Kshetri wrote the lyrics. ''Leikhamton'' was released at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT), Imphal on 6 October 2014. About The film is about a widow ''Leikham'' (Maya Choudhury) who bravely faces the hurdles of life by driving a van for her livelihood. The film depicts the consequences met after ''Leikham's'' son got married and also narrates how her husband died. Gokul Athokpam plays double role in the film. Maya Choudhury
Maya Choudhury (born 3 March) is an Indian actress who appears in Manipuri films. Some of her famous films are ''Basantagee Nongallamdai'' trilogy, ''Momon Meenok'', ''21st Century's Kunti'', ''Nungshibee Takhellei'' and ''Tomthin Shija''. In 2019 movie '' Pandam Amada'', she was cast as the main protagonist's mother. The film was selected for 18th International Dhaka Film Festival 2019, 18th Third Eye Asian Film Festival 2019, Mumbai and Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival 2020. She is well known for her titular role in the movie ''Thabaton''. Career She started singing at the age of thirteen, when she was in VIII standard. She is the only person in her family to take up singing and acting as profession. Before coming into films, she began shaping her career in singing. Meitei (), also known as Manipuri (, ), is a Tibeto-Burman language of north-eastern India. The Cinema of Manipur is the film industry based in Manipur, India. It includes not only Meitei language movies but all the films made in different languages of the different communities in Manipur. The Manipuri film industry was born when '' Matamgi Manipur'' was released on 9 April 1972. Before this, there were many attempts to make a film in the state, the most significant being ''Mainu Pemcha'' in 1948 which was left incomplete due to various problems.
