Klina ( sq-definite, Klinë; Serbian Cyrillic: ) is a town and municipality located in the District of Peja of north-western Kosovo. According to the 2011 census, the town of Klina has 5,542 inhabitants, while the municipality has 38,496 inhabitants. It is located at the confluence of the river Klina into the White Drin. A symbol of Klina are the Mirusha Waterfalls. History During early Middle Ages, Porphyrogenitus mentions the urban center of ''Desstinik'', today Dërsnik, where important archeological discoveries of Roman period were made in August 2013, described as: ''...the most important discovery of the past few decades to have been made in Kosovo in the area of archaeology.'' Klina (river)
The Klina (Serbian Cyrillic: Клина; sq, Klina) is a river in Kosovo, a 62 km-long left tributary to the White Drin. It flows entirely within Kosovo proper. The Klina originates from the northeastern slopes of the Suva Planina mountain, south of the artificial Lake Gazivode on the Ibar river, under the Rudopolje peak. In the initial section of the course, the Klina curves a lot, first flows east (at the village of Kaldura), turns south (at Jabuka), east again (at Crepulja) and southeast (at Gornji Strmac). As it flows parallel to the Ibar and Sitnica rivers, it passes next to the medieval ruins of Perkovac town and the village of Gornja Klina, reaching the regional center of Skenderaj, the village of Lauša and the monastery of Devič, where the Klina turns southwest, marking the northern border of the Drenica region. The District of Peja is one of the seven districts (the higher-level administrative divisions) of the Republic of Kosovo. It has its seat in the city of Peja. Dërsnik (Kosovo)
Drsnik ( sr-Cyrl, Дрсник), or Dërsnik or Dresnik ( sq, Dërsniku or ''Dresniku''), is a settlement in the Klina municipality of Kosovo. History During Early Middle Ages, Constantine VII, Porphyrogenitus mentions the urban center of ''Desstinik''. Archaeological discoveries from the Roman period were made here in August 2013. During World War II in Yugoslavia, World War II, Drsnik was one of the many settlements in Kosovo where the Serb civilian population was persecuted and killed by Albanian paramilitaries. White Drin
The White Drin or White Drim ( sq, Drini i Bardhë,/ ''Beli Drim'') is a river in Kosovo and northern Albania, a ca. -long headstream of the Drin. Course Kosovo The Kosovo section of the White Drin flows entirely in the semi-karst part of Kosovo, in an arc-shaped -long course. The river originates in the southern slopes of the Zhleb mountain, north of the town of Peja. The river springs near the Radavc Cave. The cave is multi-levelled, not much explored and has a lake inside. The water from the spring was used by the Peja brewery. The stream is originally a sinking river which eventually springs out from the strong well and falls down as a -high waterfall named the White Drin Waterfall near the village of Radac, away from Peja. In 1934, Russian émigré Dimitry Tyapkin projected and constructed a hydroelectric power plant next to the waterfalls which produced electricity for the town. Municipalities Of Kosovo
A municipality ( sq, komuna, sr, / ) is the basic administrative division in Kosovo and constitutes the only level of power in local governance. There are 38 municipalities in Kosovo; 27 of which have an Albanian ethnic majority, 10 Serb and 1 Turkish. After the 2013 Brussels Agreement, signed by the governments of Kosovo and Serbia, an agreement was made to create a Community of Serb Municipalities, which would operate within Kosovo's legal framework. Sadik Rama Gjurgjeviku
Sadik Rama (18791944) was a Kosovo Albanian ''kaçak'' guerrilla fighter who fought against the Serbian annexation of Kosovo in 1912. Following the Ottoman defeat, he continued to participate along Isa Boletini and Bajram Curri in the national revolt of 1913–14 in Llapushe. He joined the ''kaçak'' guerrillas in 1919 with support from the Committee for the National Defence of Kosovo. He fought alongside Azem Bejta during his lifetime. Family Rama was born in Gjurgjevik i Madh ( sr, Veliki Đurđevik), now known as ''Martiras'', located in Klina, Kosovo. He was a distant descendant of the Gjonbalaj brotherhood of Vuthaj of Kelmendi. His son, Ukë Sadiku (Rama) was active against the Italian administration in Kosovo. At the end of the war he was a member of the Albanian National Democratic Movement (LNDSH). Anton Berisha
Anton Nikë Berisha (born 1946) is an Albanian scholar and folklorist. He has been teaching Albanian at the University of Calabria since 1992, and is considered an expert in Albanian oral and Arbëreshë literature. Anton Berisha was born on August 7, 1946, in Mirash in the municipality of Klina in Kosovo. He went to school at Ujmir and Pristina. He studied Albanian language and literature at the University of Pristina. He finished his postgraduate studies at the University of Zagreb, where he earned his doctorate in 1981.
