Kia Tigers
Kia Tigers ( ko, KIA 타이거즈) are a South Korean professional baseball team founded in 1982 and based in the southwestern city of Gwangju. Until 2001, they were known as the Haitai Tigers. The Tigers are a members of the KBO League and are the most successful team in Korean baseball, having won the national Korean Series championship 11 times with a perfect 11–0 record. Their home stadium is Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in Gwangju. After the success of the 1980s and 1990s, the fortunes of the team began to turn, resulting in them finishing bottom of the league for the first time in 2005, and again in 2007. Gwangju
Gwangju () is South Korea's sixth-largest metropolis. It is a designated metropolitan city under the direct control of the central government's Home Minister. The city was also the capital of South Jeolla Province until the provincial office moved to the southern village of Namak in Muan County in 2005 because Gwangju was promoted to a metropolitan city and was independent of South Jeolla province. Samsung Lions
The Samsung Lions () are a South Korean professional baseball team founded in 1982. They are based in the southeastern city of Daegu and are members of the KBO League. Their home stadium is Daegu Samsung Lions Park. They have won the Korean Championship eight times, and also finished as runners-up on ten occasions. Sammi Superstars
The Hyundai Unicorns () were a South Korean professional baseball team based in Suwon. They were a member of the KBO League. The Unicorns won the KBO championship four times (1998, 2000, 2003 and 2004). The Unicorns were dissolved after the 2007 season. Hyundai Unicorns' players and staff were signed in a takeover deal and became the Heroes Baseball Club. Kim Eung-ryong
Kim Eung-Ryong (born September 15, 1941, in Pyongwon, South Pyongan, Korea) is a Korean baseball manager. He is the winningest manager in the history of Korean professional baseball, having won ten Korean Series championships throughout his career. He was the manager of the Haitai Tigers (1983–2000), Samsung Lions (2001–2004), and Hanwha Eagles (2013–2014). Biography He studied in the United States, attending Georgia Southern College, and then returned to Korea. He played outfield for the South Korea national baseball team in the 1962 Asian Baseball Championship, which ended up winning a Bronze Medal. Kim managed the amateur baseball team sponsored by Haitai from 1964 to 1981. During that period he managed the South Korean team to its first international title in the 1977 Intercontinental Cup. Kim Seong-han (baseball)
Kim Seong-han (; born May 18, 1958) is a retired South Korean professional baseball infielder and pitcher who played for the Haitai Tigers of the KBO League. Kim played all 14 seasons for the Tigers, winning the KBO League Most Valuable Player Award twice, in 1985 and 1988. He was the first KBO player to hit 30 home runs in a season. Kim was considered the best first basemen in the KBO from 1985 to 1991, winning the KBO League Golden Glove Award every year at that position. His Haitai Tigers won seven Korean Series titles with him as a player. Kim attended Dongguk University. Playing career An infielder for most of his career, Kim was also a pitcher for his first few seasons.
