Kazemi, Kazimi, Kazmi, or al-Kadhimi ( ar, الكاظمي al-Kadhimi) is a surname found most commonly in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. The surname is conventionally used by people who trace their patrilineal descent from Imam Musa al-Kazim, thus the lineage belongs to the Sayyid community. Kazmi people are direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad through his daughter Fatima.Sayyid is a title of respect, esp. for royal personages.Musa al-Kadhim is revered as the seventh successor of Muhammad by Shia Muslims i.e., he is the seventh Imam of Twelver Shias. Nasir Kazmi
Nasir Raza Kazmi ( ur, was an Urdu poet from Pakistan. Kazmi was born on 8 December 1925 at Ambala, Punjab, (British India). Kazmi used simple words in his poetry, including "Chand", "Raat", "Baarish", "Mausam", "Yaad", "Tanhai", "Darya" and gave them life by his style of poetry. He was known for using ''chhotee beher'' or short verses in his poetry. His poetry continues to be used on Pakistan Television ( PTV) TV shows as well as in India in Bollywood films. Early life and career Kazmi emigrated from Ambala, India to Lahore, Pakistan in August 1947. In Lahore, he worked as the editor of the literary magazines ''Auraq Nau'' and ''Khayal''. Rahat Kazmi ( ur, ) is a Pakistani actor, screenwriter, TV news presenter anchorman, and an academician. He has worked in several TV serials for PTV such as 1967's ''Mayaar'', 1974's ''Qurbatain aur Faaslay'' and 1976's Pakistan's first coloured and classical serial '' Parchaiyan''. Syed Mohammad Iqbal Kazmi is a human rights activist (Correspondent of Human Rights Commission South Asia) and journalist (Chief Editor Weekly Special Report) and is based out of city of Karachi. Ahmad Saeed Kazmi (1913 – 4 June 1986, ur, ) was a Pakistani Islamic scholar and Sufi. He migrated to Multan in 1935 from Amroha. He is known for his contribution to the Pakistan Movement, Urdu translation and explanation (Tafseer) of Quran, and Dars-e-Hadith. His tomb sits next to Multan's 18th century Shahi Eid Gah Mosque. Syed Abdul Latif Kazmi , often referred to as Barī Imām or Barī Sarkār (1617 – 1705), was a 17th-century Sufi ascetic from Punjab who was one of the most prominent Sufi of the Sunni school of thought. He is venerated as the patron saint of Islamabad, Pakistan. Born in Karsal, Chakwal District to a sayyid family. ''Sayyid'' (, ; ar, سيد ; ; meaning 'sir', 'Lord', 'Master'; Arabic plural: ; feminine: ; ) is a surname of people descending from the Islamic prophet Muhammad through his grandsons, Hasan ibn Ali and Husayn ibn Ali, sons of Muhammad's daughter Fatima and his cousin and son-in-law Ali (Ali ibn Abi Talib). Al-Musawi ( ar, الموسوي, ) is a surname that indicates a person comes from a prestigious and highly respected Arabian family descending from the Islamic prophet Muhammad through al-Imam Musa al-Kadhim ibn Jafar as-Sadiq (7th Shi'a Imam). Sayed Mustafa Kazemi ( prs, سید مصطفی کاظمی, 1959 – November 6, 2007) from Parwan was a prominent Afghan politician. He was one of the leaders and the spokesman for the opposition movement known as the United National Front. He was a former minister of commerce in the Afghan Transitional Government.
