Karosa
Karosa ( cs, Továrna na Kočáry, Automobily, Rotory, Obráběcí stroje, Sekací stroje a Autobusy, en, Factory for carriages, cars, rotors, machine tools, cutting machines and buses) was a bus manufacturer in Vysoké Mýto in the Czech Republic. It was the biggest manufacturer of buses in Czechoslovakia. In 2007 its name was changed to Iveco Czech Republic, and now the company produces buses under the name Iveco Bus. Since 2014, the Czech Republic produced more buses per million inhabitants than any other country in the world. The Iveco Bus factory in Vysoké Mýto produces around 3,100 buses annually and is the largest manufacturer of buses in Europe. Karosa 900 Series
Karosa 900 series is a collective term for several modifications of a bus which was produced by Czech company Karosa in the town Vysoké Mýto from 1994 to 2007. The basic models of this series are intercity bus Karosa C 934 and later produced C 954. History After completion of the project 800 Series in the early 1990s and several radically modified prototype vehicles of 700 series Karosa decided to "only" modernize range of 700 to 900. Production of a series of test series of new buses began in 1995, the serial production started in 1996 (B 931 city buses). A year later started production and other models (including the basic type C 934) Series 930 (standard bus) and 940 (articulated bus). Karosa 700 series is a collective term for several modifications of buses made by Karosa company in Czechoslovakia, later Czech Republic in town Vysoké Mýto between 1981 and 1997. History and variants The first buses of 700 series were produced during the 1970s. These were only functional samples and prototypes, which were designed for different tests (including comparisons with then produced Karosa Š series). The very first bus from 700 series became functional sample of intercity bus Karosa C 733 in 1973. Serial production of 700 series begin in 1981. The first (and main) representative was Karosa C 734 (intercity bus). Karosa Š Series
Karosa Š series is a collective term for several modifications of Czechoslovak bus, which was made by the Karosa Vysoké Mýto in years 1964 ( prototypes since 1961) to 1981. History Š-Series buses began to be developed as a successor to Škoda 706 RTO, which was produced in three (or four) variants since 1958. The government resolution from the late 50s caused, that Karosa started developing a completely new high-capacity bus that (due to other governmental conditions) could no longer be modernization of type 706 RTO, but the company had to develop a completely new solution. This concept became semi-self supporting body, which was used by the company Karosa even after the end of production of buses Š series with (the letter Š stands for the engine manufacturer, the company Škoda). Škoda 706 RTO
Škoda 706 RTO is an urban bus produced by bus manufacturer Karosa and Škoda in Czechoslovakia between 1958 and 1972. It was succeeded by Karosa ŠM 11 in 1964. Construction features 706 RTO is built on frame of Škoda 706 trucks. Engine is placed in front next to driver, and rear axle is propelled by long driveshaft. On the right side are two doors. The interior is furnished with leatherette seats. Production and operation Serial production of the Škoda 706 RTO began in 1958, and continued until 1972. From 1959 to 1986 the bus was also produced under licence in Poland by Jelcz factory as Jelcz 043 (nicknamed ″cucumber″, ''pol.'' ″ogórek″) . Škoda 706 RTO is no longer operated by any public transport authorities, but many of them are operated as historical vehicles. Vysoké Mýto
Vysoké Mýto (; german: Hohenmaut, also ''Hohenmauth'') is a town in Ústí nad Orlicí District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 12,000 inhabitants. Its town square is the largest example of its type in the country. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Irisbus Crossway
The IVECO Bus Crossway is an urban and intercity bus produced by IVECO Bus since 2006. Features Body is semi-self-supporting with frame and engine with manual gearbox and automatic gearbox placed to the rear ('pusher bus'). Only rear axle is powered. All axles use air suspension. On the right side are two or three doors. Interior seating is cloth. The drivers cab is integral with the rest of the vehicle. Production and operation In 2006, the Crossway was put into serial production. In 2013 a modernised version was introduced, with a Euro VI engine and a refreshed appearance.
