Kalutara Stadium ( si, කළුතර ක්‍රීඩාංගණය), also known as Vernon U Fernando Stadium, is a multi-use stadium located in the centre of Kalutara, Sri Lanka. It is known locally as the ''Kalutara Park Ground''. Overview The stadium is primarily used for football matches and hosts the home games of Blue Star SC, who play in the Sri Lanka Champions League, Kalutara Park SC, who compete in the Kit Premier League Division I, Super Beach SC and Greenfield SC. The stadium holds 15,000 people. The sport complex is named after Vernon Manilal Fernando, who was the President of Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) from 1979 to 1999, Vice President for Asian Football Confederation, Vice President of National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka and served on the FIFA Executive Committee from 2011-2013. Kalutara
Kalutara ( si, කළුතර, ta, களுத்துறை) or Kalutota is a major city in Kalutara District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is also the administrative capital of Kalutara District. It is located approximately south of the capital Colombo. The city holds a unique position for one of the four major rivers in Sri Lanka, the Kalu Ganga, which joins the sea at the centre of the city. The S1 League ( si, එස්1 ලීගය; ta, எஸ்1 லீக்), or simply S1, also known as Sri Lanka Champions League, is the second tier division of the Football in Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan football league system and was succeeded by the professional Sri Lanka Super League which serves as the first division. Division I is the third level division of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka. 12 or 15 teams represent this division divided into two groups. The top team of each group of this division is promoted to Kit Premier League while last team of both groups is relegated to Sri Lanka Football Division II. The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in some countries/territories in Asia and Oceania. It has 47 member countries most of which are located in Asia. Australia, formerly in OFC, joined AFC in 2006.
