KFXY-LP
KWSQ-LP (99.5 FM) is a low-power FM radio station in Mesa, Arizona. Broadcasting on 99.5 FM, KWSQ-LP is owned by KWSF Radio and simulcasts KWSS-LP 93.9 in Scottsdale. The original construction permit specified operation on 106.7 MHz, but this was soon changed to 99.1 because of severe interference from KKMR on 106.5. The station signed on in early 2014 as KUKQ-LP with an alternative music format known as "KQ99.1". The KUKQ call sign was formerly used in the Valley at 1060 AM (now KDUS). After a stint as KOWO-LP "Wow 99.1" from 2014 to 2015, the station relaunched as KQCX-LP in September 2015, then flipped again to alternative rock as "FX 99.1" on January 1, 2016. The call sign was changed once more on January 22, 2016, to KFXY-LP. As KFXY-LP, the station initially broadcast a classic country format with Americana and Roots programming known as Coyote Country 99.1. Originally broadcasting on 106.7 FM, the station now broadcasts at 93.9 FM. KWSS went on the air January 2005 and is an alternative/indie pop format radio station with an emphasis on local and indie music. With studios located in Scottsdale, and transmitter in central Phoenix, KWSS broadcasts 24 hours a day. Aside from the alternative music format, KWSS carries news and information programs such as Democracy Now! from the Pacifica Foundation, The Lopsided World of L with Jonathan L, Radio Italia, and The Director's Cut. KKMR (106.5 FM) is a radio station licensed to serve Arizona City, Arizona, United States. is a radio station broadcasting out of Phoenix, Arizona and serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is owned by Educational Media Foundation. The station was assigned the KKMR call letters by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on February 13, 2002. KDUS ( AM 1060) is a sports talk radio station broadcasting out of Tempe, Arizona, and serving the Phoenix metropolitan radio market. It is owned by Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. and licensed to Phoenix FCC License Sub, LLC. Its studios are located on North 52nd Street west of Papago Park and its transmitter is in Guadalupe. KDUS broadcasts on the clear-channel frequency of 1060 kHz; KYW and XEEP are the dominant Class A stations on that frequency. KDUS can also be heard on HD Radio receivers at 100.7 FM KSLX-FM-HD2. Station history 1060 AM came to life in Tempe in 1959 with the callsign KUPD (pronounced Cupid).
