Japanese National Baseball Team
The is the national team representing Japan in international baseball competitions. It won the World Baseball Classic in 2006 and 2009, as well as WBSC Premier12 in 2019. The team is currently ranked 1st in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The team has participated in every Summer Olympic Games since the first demonstration tournament in 1984, through when baseball was discontinued following the 2008 Beijing Games. Until 2000, the team was made up exclusively of amateur players. Since the 2000 Summer Olympics, the team has been composed of players from Nippon Professional Baseball. The team that played in the 2006 World Baseball Classic included Japanese players from Major League Baseball as well. The team won the 2006 Classic. It played at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, as it had qualified through the Asian Baseball Championship in 2007. or NPB is the highest level of baseball in Japan. Locally, it is often called , meaning ''Professional Baseball''. Outside Japan, it is often just referred to as "Japanese baseball". The roots of the league can be traced back to the formation of the in Tokyo, founded in 1934, and the original circuit for the sport in the Empire two years later – Japanese Baseball League (1936–1949), and continued to play even through the final years of World War II. Yoshinobu Yamamoto
is a Japanese professional baseball pitcher for the Orix Buffaloes of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). Professional career Yamamoto made his NPB debut on August 20, 2017 for the Orix Buffaloes. Yamamoto finished the 2021 season with an 18-5 record and 206 strikeouts across 193.2 innings pitched. is a professional Japanese baseball player. He plays pitcher for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. Early Baseball Career He started playing little league baseball in 3rd grade for Meijikita Elementary School. He continued to play for Daito Junior High where they made it all the way to national tournaments in his 3rd year. Thinking of playing more baseball just for fun, he and most of his teammates entered Oita Commercial High School. He doubled as a pitcher and 3rd baseman/shortstop and had a friendly rivalry with Hikaru Kawase (Softbank player) for those positions. Suguru Iwazaki
is a Japanese Nippon Professional Baseball pitcher for the Hanshin Tigers in Japan's Central League. Iwazaki is a 6-foot tall left-handed pitcher, and wears jersey No. 67. His surname is often misread as "Iwasaki" rather than "Iwazaki". Early baseball career Suguru is a native of Shimizu, Shizuoka. During his younger years, his mother who was an active member of the local softball team, assigned him to assist in picking up balls during her teams' practices. Kōyō Aoyagi
is a Japanese professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball. Early baseball career Kōyō played ball for the Terao Dolphins as a fifth-grader in primary school, and went on to pitch for Namamugi Junior High. United States National Baseball Team
The United States national baseball team represents the United States in international-level baseball competitions. The team is currently ranked 5th in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. Team USA won the Olympic baseball tournament in 2000, and the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in 2017. The United States was an inaugural member of the World Baseball Classic, making its debut in the first edition. The South Korean national baseball team ( ko, 대한민국 야구 국가대표팀) is the national baseball team of South Korea.
