James Maddock
James Maddock (born 1962) is an English singer-songwriter and performing musician. Originally from Countesthorpe, Leicester, Maddock has been based in New York City since 2003. His first album was ''Tied Weight'' in 1982. (Reach Up Records SRO 001). Musicians were, James 'Bam Bam' Barker - drums, keys, percussion. Martyn Lewis - Electric guitar, backing vox. Gary Twist - bass. James played acoustic and electric guitars, mouth organ, and vocals. Produced by Paul Witherspoon One of his earlier bands, Fire Next Time, which played up-tempo left-wing soul ''a la'' the Redskins, released a well-received album ''North to South'' on Polydor Records in 1988. The band consisted of James, Nick Muir, Ray Weston, and James O' Malley. String arrangements by Anne Dudley. Produced by Hugh Jones. O' Malley would later follow Maddock into the band Wood. WBJB-FM (90.5 FM, "Brookdale Public Radio, 90.5 The Night") is a non-commercial, member-supported, educational public radio station licensed to Brookdale Community College, serving Central New Jersey with "The News You Need and the Music You Love." ''New York at Night'' is the 13th studio album by American singer-songwriter Willie Nile, released on May 15, 2020, by River House Records, it was co-produced by Nile and Stewart Lerman who has worked with Nile on eight of his previous albums. The record celebrates family, unity and the city Nile has called home since the early 1970s. Background Nile says the idea for the name, ''New York at Night'', came to him one Friday night in the summer of 2018, when he was walking alone near Times Square to catch a subway. When he got on the train he saw a man all covered in thick whipped cream. After he exited the train he saw all sorts of characters on the street in Greenwich Village. As he continued his walk home, he thought "New York at night, wow, what a name for a song". After he got home he picked up his guitar and wrote the song. Willie Nile (born Robert Noonan; June 7, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter. In 1980, Nile released his self-titled debut album. His early career was interrupted by various problems, but he eventually returned to recording and performing in the US and Europe, establishing himself as a singer-songwriter. Early life Born in Buffalo, New York, into what he called "a gregarious Irish Catholic family". He grew up with two older brothers who played piano, and a mother who "used to always have music in the house. Whether it was classical or big band or popular hits of the times, something was always playing." His grandfather ran an orchestra in Buffalo and was a vaudeville pianist who played with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and Eddie Cantor. Nile studied philosophy at the University at Buffalo and lived in Greenwich Village while beginning his music career. He contracted pneumonia and wrote songs while he spent a year recuperating.
