Ingemar Stenmark
Jan Ingemar Stenmark (; born 18 March 1956) is a Swedish former World Cup alpine ski racer. He is regarded as one of the most prominent Swedish athletes ever, and as the greatest slalom and giant slalom specialist of all time. He competed for Tärna IK Fjällvinden. Biography Born in Joesjö, Storuman Municipality, Lapland, Stenmark's family moved to Tärnaby near Norway when he was four years old. He became a childhood neighbour of Stig Strand (also born 1956), who tied Stenmark for the World Cup slalom title in 1983. Stenmark began skiing at the age of five and won his first national competition at age eight. Competitive record Stenmark made his World Cup debut in December 1973 at age 17. He has won more international races than any other alpine skier to date: he took 86 World Cup wins (46 giant slaloms and 40 slaloms). Joesjö
Joesjö (or Jovattnet) is a Swedish village which lies about 30 km from Tärnaby and Hemavan. To get there from Tärnaby one takes the E12 (Blue Road) west. After 10 km one turns off towards Joesjö and Hattfjelldal (on Krutfjällsvägen, road 1116. From there it is 25 km to Joesjö. In Joesjö there is, amongst other things, the food store Tärna Vilt AB. Joesjö was previously (up to the 1950s) a centre for trade between people from Midt-Helgeland on the Norwegian border and their neighbouring Swedes. The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1982 were held in Schladming, Austria, between 28 January and 7 February 1982. Tärnaby
Tärnaby is a locality situated in Storuman Municipality, Lappland, Västerbotten County, Sweden with 482 inhabitants in 2010. It is known for its successful skiers, particularly in the "technical" disciplines: Slalom and Giant Slalom: Ingemar Stenmark, Anja Pärson, Bengt Fjällberg, Stig Strand and Jens Byggmark. In winter Tärnaby is transformed into one of northern Sweden's ski resorts. Lapland, Sweden

Storuman Municipality
Storuman Municipality (; sma, Luspie tjïelte; sju, Lusspie kommuvnna) is a municipality in Västerbotten County in northern Sweden. Its seat is located in Storuman. The parish Stensele was created as late as 1822. It was, together with the parish Tärna, made into a municipality in 1863. In 1903 Tärna was detached to form a municipality of its own. The local government reform of 1971 saw the reunification of Stensele and Tärnaby municipalities, thus forming Storuman Municipality with the name taken from its largest town.
