Houghton Township is a civil township of Keweenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 103 at the 2020 census. The township consists of a mainland portion of the Keweenaw Peninsula and the county seat of Eagle River, as well as the unpopulated northeast portion of Isle Royale National Park. Communities *Central is an unincorporated community located within the township at . This settlement developed around the successful Central Mine, which began operating in 1854. A post office named Central Mine opened on December 8, 1871 in what was then part of Sherman Township, as seen in a1873 mapof Keweenaw County. The name changed to Centralmine on June 30, 1894 and was disestablished on September 15, 1904. McMillan Township is a civil township of Luce County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,692 at the 2010 census. At of total land area, McMillan Township occupies 65.5% of Luce County's land area and is also the largest municipality by area in the state of Michigan. The township contains the village of Newberry, which is the county seat and only incorporated municipality in the county. Rock Harbor (Michigan)
Rock Harbor is the main access point for visitors landing on Isle Royale in northern Lake Superior. It sits from the northeastern end of the island, the whole of which is protected as Isle Royale National Park. Two structures in Rock Harbor—the Rock Harbor Light and the Edisen Fishery—are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The ''Rock Harbor'' name is properly applied to the inlet from Moskey Basin to Scoville Point along the southern shore of the easterly part of Isle Royale. M-26 is a state trunkline highway in the U.S. state of Michigan, running from east of Rockland to its junction with US Highway 41 (US 41) in Copper Harbor. It generally runs southwest-to-northeast in the western half or Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The northernmost segment, which closely parallels the shore of Lake Superior on the west side of the Keweenaw Peninsula, is highly scenic.
