Hero Of The Rails
''Thomas & Friends: Hero of the Rails'' is a 2009 British computer-animated adventure film and feature-length special of the British television series, ''Thomas & Friends''. The film is produced by HIT Entertainment with animation from Nitrogen Studios. It introduces full CGI animation replacing live-action models, and the addition of a voice cast for the characters alongside the narration to the TV series. The film features the voice of Ben Small and Martin Sherman as Thomas the Tank Engine for the UK and US respectively. It was first released on DVD and on iTunes on 12 January 2010. To promote the film a " Day Out with Thomas 2010: The Hero of the Rails Tour" was held at locations such as the Illinois Railway Museum, where guests could participate in activities such as arts and crafts or ride on a 15-ton replica of Thomas the Tank Engine. Greg Tiernan
Gregory Tiernan (born June 19, 1965) is an Ireland, Irish-born, Canadians, Canadian-based animator, director and voice artist. Along with his wife Nicole Stinn, he founded Nitrogen Studios Canada, Inc. in 2003, through which he introduced Computer-generated imagery, CGI to the ''Thomas & Friends'' series. Prior to this, Tiernan collaborated on various projects with filmmaker Don Bluth, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Klasky Csupo, Inc. Nitrogen Studios was purchased by Cinesite and he now works for them. Tiernan made his feature film debut with the long-gestating R-rated animated film ''Sausage Party'' (2016), joining Conrad Vernon to direct production of a story conceived by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Jonah Hill. James is a fictional anthropomorphic red tender locomotive from ''The Railway Series'' children's books by the Reverend Awdry and the TV series adaptation ''Thomas & Friends''. Toby is a fictional anthropomorphic brown square tram engine in ''The Railway Series'' by the Reverend Wilbert Vere Awdry and his son, Christopher; he also appears in the television series adaptation ''Thomas & Friends'' and is currently set to appear in its reboot, '' Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go''. Sir Topham Hatt
The Fat Controller, whose real name is Sir Topham Hatt, is a fictional character in ''The Railway Series'' books written by the Reverend W. Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry. In the first two books in the series (''The Three Railway Engines'' and ''Thomas the Tank Engine'') he is known as The Fat Director, and as of the third book (''James the Red Engine'') he becomes The Fat Controller, as the railway has been nationalised. The Island of Sodor is a fictional island featured as the setting for ''The Railway Series'' books by the Rev.
