Hellerup () is a very affluent district of Gentofte Municipality in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The most urban part of the district is centred on Strandvejen and is bordered by Østerbro to the south and the Øresund to the east. It comprises Tuborg Havn, the redeveloped brewery site of Tuborg Breweries, with the Waterfront Shopping Center, a marina and the headquarters of several large companies. Other parts of the district consist of single family detached homes. Local landmarks include the science centre Experimentarium and the art Øregaard Museum. Geography With an area of approximately 515 hectares, Hellerup covers 20% of the municipality. Gentofte Municipality
Gentofte Kommune is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark (''Region Hovedstaden'') on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. It covers an area of , and has a total population of 74,548 (1 April 2014). Since 17 May 2021, its mayor has been Michael Fenger, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti''). Øregård Museum
Øregård Museum is an art museum located in Hellerup in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is owned by Gentofte Municipality and holds a topographic collection of pictures from Copenhagen and the area north of the city. It also hosts special exhibitions. The building is a former country house built by a wealthy merchant, active in the triangle trade on the Danish West Indies. Tuborg Havn
Tuborg Havn or Port of Tuborg is a marina and surrounding mixed-use neighbourhood in the Hellerup district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Located on a peninsula on the north side of Svanemølle Bay, just north of the border to Copenhagen Municipality, it is the result of a redevelopment of the former industrial site of Tuborg Breweries which ceased operations in 1996. The marina is operated by the Royal Danish Yacht Club which also has their club house at the site. Other local landmarks include the Experimentarium science centre, the Waterfront shopping centre and the Saxo Bank headquarters. Erich Erichsen
Erich Erichsen (31 March 1752 – 7 January 1837) was a Danish merchant and ship-owner. He owned the trading house C. S. Blacks Enke & Co. from 1783. The Erichsen Mansion in Copenhagen is named after him. Early life and education Erichsen was born in Odense, the son of war and district commissioner and chamberlain Laurids Erichsen (1716–1756) and Charlotte Christiane von Westen (1724–1801). He completed a merchant's apprenticeship in Copenhagen. Career After completing his apprenticeship, Erichsen was employed in the Blach trading house. He became part of the management of the company after C. S. Blach's death in 1781. He married Blach's widow in 1783 and thus became the owner of the company that changed its name to C. S. Blachs Enke & Co. He was also involved in money lending. His ships brought spices and precious textiles home from the East Indies and transported grain from the Baltic countries to England. Charlottenlund
Charlottenlund is a suburban area on the coast north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the administrative seat of Gentofte Municipality. Bordered to the east by the Øresund, to the South by Hellerup and to the north by Klampenborg, it is one of the wealthiest areas in Denmark.
