Hatebreed
Hatebreed is an American hardcore band from Bridgeport, Connecticut, formed in 1994. The band released its debut album '' Satisfaction is the Death of Desire'' in 1997, which gave the band a cult following. The band signed to Universal Records and released '' Perseverance'' in 2002, which hit the ''Billboard'' 200. Combining elements of hardcore and heavy metal, the band is often described as a metalcore, hardcore punk, and beatdown hardcore band. They have played a major role in the Connecticut hardcore scene. History Hatebreed was formed in 1994 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They began by recording a three song demo and selling it to locals. Those three songs would eventually be released on a split 7" with New York's Neglect in 1995. The Rise Of Brutality
''The Rise of Brutality'' is the third studio album by American metalcore band Hatebreed. It was released on October 28, 2003 by Universal Records. Background "This is Now" proved to be the album's first single, frequently being played on MTV2's ''Headbangers Ball'', a program which vocalist Jamey Jasta often hosted. The song was also included on the first ''MTV2 Headbangers Ball'' compilation album that same year. A second single would be found in "Live for This," with its music video dedicated to a deceased friend of the band. The song "Another Day, Another Vendetta," greatly samples the song "Just Look Around," by Sick of it All, borrowing the first verse. The first song, "Tear It Down" is an extended version of the song "Outro" from the previous album ''Perseverance''. Their song "Live for This" was nominated for a Grammy award in 2005. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Beatdown Hardcore
Beatdown hardcore (also known as heavy hardcore, brutal hardcore, toughguy, moshcore, or simply beatdown) is a subgenre of hardcore punk with prominent elements of heavy metal. Beatdown hardcore features aggressive vocals, down-tuned electric guitars, gang vocals, heavy guitar riffs, and heavy breakdowns. The genre emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s with bands such as Killing Time, Madball, and Sheer Terror. In the 1990s and early 2000s, many other beatdown bands emerged, such as Hatebreed, Bulldoze, Shai Hulud, and Strife. Bands such as Terror and Death Before Dishonor gained cult followings in the 2000s. ''Under the Knife'' is a compilation EP by the American metalcore band Hatebreed released in 1996 by Smorgasbord Records. It consists of the band's first 7 inch release, also titled ''Under The Knife'', as well as three additional demo tracks. It was re-released several times, in 1998 by Smorgasbord Records, in 2000 by both Smorgasbord Records and Victory Records and in 2006 by Cortex Records. The 7" vinyl only has the four first tracks, but the CD has all 7 tracks. ''Perseverance'' is the second studio album by American metalcore band Hatebreed. It was released in 2002 by Universal Records. "I Will Be Heard" is featured in the film '' XXX'' and on its soundtrack. "Below the Bottom" appeared in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre soundtrack. Jamey Jasta
James Shanahan (born August 7, 1977), known professionally as Jamey Jasta, is an American vocalist, best known as the lead singer of metalcore band Hatebreed and sludge metal band Kingdom of Sorrow. Jasta also fronts metalcore band Icepick. Prior to Hatebreed, he fronted the hardcore band Jasta 14. Jasta owns Stillborn Records, a hardcore- and metal-based record label from West Haven, Connecticut, and a "rock-themed apparel" line called Hatewear. In 2011, Jasta released a solo album titled ''Jasta'', collaborating with Randy Blythe and Mark Morton (Lamb of God), Zakk Wylde, Philip Labonte ( All That Remains), and Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying). Slayer was an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California. The band was formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, drummer Dave Lombardo and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. Icepick is an American metalcore band formed in 1996. It serves as a side project to Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed, Danny Diablo, and other musicians of the hardcore punk and hip hop scenes. Although founded in 1996, Icepick remained virtually stagnant until the song "Born to Crush You" appeared on ''UFC: Ultimate Beat Downs, Vol. 1'' in August 2004. Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski frequently uses their song "Onward to Victory" as his entrance music for fights. Icepick's debut album, ''Violent Epiphany'', was released on April 18, 2006, under Jasta's record label, Stillborn Records.
