Harris County High School (Georgia)
Harris County High School is a public high school serving grades 9 through 12. The school is located in Hamilton, Georgia, United States, in Harris County. The school mascot is a tiger, called Tano, and the school colors are black and gold. The school was established in 1956. History Harris County High School was founded in 1955, and was originally located on the current site of Harris County Carver Middle School until 1998. The new location of the school was built just west of town, where it stands today, and was completed in 1998. The school was hit by an EF2 tornado in 2011, damaging the football field, gym, portions of the school roof, and numerous cars in the parking lot, as well as destroying the locker room adjacent to the football field. No injuries or fatalities occurred. Dequartavous "Tae" Crowder (born March 12, 1997) is an American football linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia. He was drafted by the New York Giants with the final pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, making him that draft's Mr. Irrelevant. College career Crowder redshirted his freshman season at Georgia in 2015. He switched to inside linebacker from running back in 2016. The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national student organization created to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as well as business education. TSA aims to develop leadership, academic, and business management skills in the workplace among students and leaders within the community. The organization has 250,000 members. Thespian Society
The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9–12; Junior Thespian troupes serve students in grades 6 through 8. A few famous ITS alumni include Tom Hanks, Val Kilmer, James Marsters, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Stephen Schwartz. Festivals are held annually at the state and national levels. Each June the organization holds the International Thespian Festival. For 25 years it was held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Science Olympiad is an American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various fields of science, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year. U.S. territories do not compete; however, since 2012 high school teams from Japan have competed at the national tournament as unranked guests. There are multiple levels of competition: invitational, regional, state, and national. Invitational tournaments, run by high schools and universities, are unofficial tournaments and serve as practice for regional and state competitions. Key Club International, also called Key Club, is an international service organization for high school students. As a student-led organization, Key Club's goal is to encourage leadership through serving others. Key Club International is the high school branch of the Kiwanis International family, classifying as a Service Leadership Program and more specifically as a Kiwanis Youth Program.
