Greensboro Roller Derby
Greensboro Roller Derby is a women's flat-track roller derby league established in 2010 and based in Greensboro, North Carolina. The league consists of three home teams: the Battleground Betties, the Elm Street Nightmares, and the Mad Dollies. Each home team is named after a prominent street in Greensboro. Additionally, the league maintains two travel team, the Gate City All-Stars, which is the WFTDA charter team and competes against other WFTDA teams from around the world in sanctioned game play, and the B team, Counterstrike. Greensboro Roller Derby is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). WFTDA Championships
The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. The Championships are organised by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). They originated in 2006 as the National WFTDA Championship. The "Dust Devil" tournament was contested in front of several thousand fans in Tucson, Arizona. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Rankings
Rankings for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) are used to determine placement in overall standings (rather than win–loss record) and also to determine seedings at WFTDA Playoffs. Achieving high rankings is also a goal for teams aiming to increase their stature in the organization. Each year at the end of June, teams are seeded into Division 1 and Division 2 playoff tournaments. Historically, the top 40 teams in the WFTDA as of June 30 were eligible for Division 1 tournaments that season, and the teams ranked 41–60 were eligible for Division 2 tournaments. For 2017, the Division 1 cutoff was reduced to the top 36 teams, with the next 16 teams qualifying for Division 2 Playoffs. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, commonly referred to as Greensboro Coliseum (the first and biggest building on the site), is an entertainment and sports complex located in Greensboro, North Carolina.
