Gergeri
Gergeri ( el, Γέργερη) is the seat of Rouvas municipal unit in Heraklion (regional unit), Heraklion regional unit in the Greece, Greek island of Crete. The population was 1,440 in 2011. Gergeri's location is at a region called "Pano Riza" of Psiloreiti's, and in that region there are also the villages Panasos, Nivritos, Zaros, Vorizia and Kamares. Nowadays, everyone in Gergeri and in Pano Riza is proud for the surplus of companies in Gergeri, and for the football club Rouvas F.C., which now is playing on Football League 2 (Greece), Football League 2. Near Gergeri also is the Rouva's Forest, which is very famous and very beautiful. During the Greek War of Independence the Commissioner of Crete, Emmanouil Tombazis, gathered 3,000 Cretans in Gergeri to face a force of 12,000 Turkish-Egyptian soldiers at Ayia Varvara. Rouvas ( el, Ρούβας) is a former municipality in the Heraklion (regional unit), Heraklion regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Gortyn, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of . Population 1,821 (2011). Emmanouil Tombazis
Emmanouil Tombazis ( el, Εμμανουήλ Τομπάζης, 1784–1831) was a Greek naval captain from Hydra, active during the Greek War of Independence, who was appointed Commissioner of Crete for the Greek provisional government in 1823–1824 and naval minister for a short period in 1828. The Tombazis family migrated from Vourla to the island of Hydra in 1668. It was originally named ''Yakoumakis'' ( el, Γιακουμάκης). Emmanouil Tombazis was the son of Nikolaos Tombazis and brother of Iakovos Tombazis. During the early years of the War of Independence, he participated in several naval battles and served as a representative for his native island in the national assemblies of Epidaurus and Astros. Appointed Commissioner for Crete in early 1823, he arrived on the island on 21 May 1823 at the fort of Kissamos with a small fleet of five warships, three transports and 600, mostly Epirote, volunteers. Garrgarr
Gargar ( hy, Գարգառ) is a village in the Lori Province of Armenia, founded in 1790. After Lori was liberated from the Persian yoke by special decree and joined Tsarist Russia in 1801, many families abandoned their settlements and permanently inhabited the liberated villages in Lori. The founding families of the village are the Kalashyans, Muradyans, Zalinyans and Harutyunyans. Geography and climate Gargar is located 1400–1500 meters above sea level. The geographic location of the village of Gargar is very advantageous, as the Yerevan-Tbilisi highway crosses through it. Climate conditions are also very favorable. Geography The regional unit of Heraklion borders on the regional units of Rethymno to the west and Lasithi to the east.
