Gereja Jemaat Protestan Di Indonesia
Gereja Jemaat Protestan di Indonesia is a Reformed church in the Province of Papua in Indonesia. It was created on 25 June 1984 by the Reformed Congregations in the Netherlands. It began pioneer mission work in the Yali territory. Historically this was known as Irian Jaya and was part of the Dutch East Indies. In Papua there are 250 different languages. The Mission started in 1962, the first baptism was performed in December 1969. On that day 96 adults and 51 children were baptised. Ten new mission location opened in Nipsan, Langda, Bomela and in other towns, in southern lowlands in Dela Sera, Samboka, and Sumtamon. In 1974 the Nipsan station was destroyed by indigenous warriors, 14 were killed, later it was reopened. A second classis were opened in the unai-spoken eastern part of the mountains. Calvinism (also called the Reformed Tradition, Reformed Protestantism, Reformed Christianity, or simply Reformed) is a major branch of Protestantism that follows the theological tradition and forms of Christian practice set down by John Calvin and other Reformation-era theologians. Wamena
Wamena is a town and the capital of the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It also serves as the seat of Jayawijaya Regency. It is the largest town in Indonesian Papua's highlands, in the Baliem Valley and had a population of 64,967 at the 2020 Census. Wamena is the urban centre of a rural area housing highland Papua's highest concentration of population, with over 300,000 people inhabiting the Baliem Valley and surrounding areas. The Gereja-Gereja Reformasi di Indonesia or the Indonesian Reformed Churches is a confessional Reformed church in the country of Indonesia established by orthodox Calvinist Dutch missionaries. History Missionaries came to Sumba in the late 1800s. The dominant Christian church in this region is the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor or the Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor. Sumba was a mission place assigned to the Reformed churches. After World War II missionary SPJ Goossens was suspended by the Gereja Zwolle of their position but some churches remained loyal to him. A schism occurred. Later this are become a mission field of the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated). An existing congregations joined this effort.
