Fryderyk Chopin Institute
The Fryderyk Chopin Institute ( pl, Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina) is a Polish organization dedicated to researching and promoting the life and works of Poles, Polish composer Frédéric Chopin. It was created in 2001 as the result of legislation in the Parliament of Poland, Polish Parliament and is under direct control of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Poland), Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Its headquarters are located in Warsaw. Activities The activities of the institute include publications, organization of concerts, conserving the physical and artistic Chopin heritage, monitoring the commercial use of Chopin's name and operating a Chopin Information Centre (the institute's website). Frédéric Chopin
Frédéric François Chopin (born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin; 1 March 181017 October 1849) was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period, who wrote primarily for solo piano. He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation". Chopin was born in Żelazowa Wola in the Duchy of Warsaw and grew up in Warsaw, which in 1815 became part of Congress Poland. A child prodigy, he completed his musical education and composed his earlier works in Warsaw before leaving Poland at the age of 20, less than a month before the outbreak of the November 1830 Uprising. Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra
The Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra ( pl, Orkiestra Filharmonii Narodowej w Warszawie) is a Polish orchestra based in Warsaw. Founded in 1901, it is one of Poland's oldest musical institutions. History The orchestra was conceived on initiative of an assembly of Polish aristocrats and financiers, as well as musicians. Between 1901 and the outbreak of World War II in 1939, several virtuoso- and conductor-composers regularly performed their works with the orchestra, including Edvard Grieg, Arthur Honegger, Ruggiero Leoncavallo, Sergei Prokofiev, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Maurice Ravel, Camille Saint-Saëns, Richard Strauss, and Igor Stravinsky. I International Chopin Competition On Period Instruments
The 1st International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments - the inaugural edition of the International Chopin Competition in the piano class, which was held on September 2–14, 2018 in Warsaw on period instruments, organised by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. 30 pianists from 9 countries were invited to participate in the competition. The auditions were divided into two stages, which took place on September 4–6 and September 8–10, and the final concerts lasted from September 12–13. The competition was won by Tomasz Ritter from Poland. The competition ended on September 14 the winners' concert. Period piano instruments The idea of the competition is to perform Chopin’s music on instruments it was composed for. The International Chopin Piano Competition ( pl, Międzynarodowy Konkurs Pianistyczny im. Fryderyka Chopina), often referred to as the Chopin Competition, is a piano competition held in Warsaw, Poland. It was initiated in 1927 and has been held every five years since 1955.
