Squall Leonhart
is a fictional character and the main protagonist of '' Final Fantasy VIII'', a role-playing video game that was produced by Square (now Square Enix). In ''Final Fantasy VIII'', Squall is an 17-year-old student at Balamb Garden, a prestigious military academy for elite mercenaries (known as "SeeDs"). He is 177 cm (5 ft 10 in) tall. As the story progresses, Squall befriends Quistis Trepe, Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt, and Irvine Kinneas, and falls in love with Rinoa Heartilly. Nobuo Uematsu
is a Japanese composer and keyboardist best known for his contributions to the ''Final Fantasy'' video game series by Square Enix. A self-taught musician, he began playing the piano at the age of twelve, with English singer-songwriter Elton John as one of his biggest influences. Uematsu joined Square in 1986, where he first met ''Final Fantasy'' creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. The two later worked together on many games at the company, most notably in the ''Final Fantasy'' series. After nearly two decades with Square, Uematsu left in 2004 to create his own production company and music label, Dog Ear Records. Rinoa Heartilly
is the fictional character and co-protagonist of Square's (now Square Enix) 1999 role-playing video game '' Final Fantasy VIII''. She is a teenaged member of a resistance faction known as the Forest Owls. After she recruits protagonist Squall Leonhart and his friends, she decides to stay with his group and falls in love with Squall in the process. During their adventure, she is briefly possessed by the evil sorceress Ultimecia and becomes a sorceress herself once the spirit leaves her body.
