Eni S.p.A. () is an Italian multinational energy company headquartered in Rome. Considered one of the seven "supermajor" oil companies in the world, it has operations in 69 countries with a market capitalization of US$54.08 billion, as of 11 April 2022. Eni Plenitude S.p.A. Società Benefit (formerly: Eni gas e luce S.p.A. Claudio Descalzi (born 1955) is an Italian businessman, CEO of Eni since May 2014. Education Claudio Descalzi graduated in Physics at the University of Milan in 1979. Career Descalzi started to work at Eni in 1981, when he joined the multinational company operating in the production and distribution of energy as a reservoir engineer. Big Oil is a name used to describe the world's six or seven largest publicly traded and investor-owned oil and gas companies, also known as supermajors. The term, particularly in the United States, emphasizes their economic power and influence on politics.
