Emakumeen Bira
The Emakumeen Euskal Bira was a women's cycling race held in the Basque Country, Spain. It was held annually from 1988 to 2019, starting out as a two-stage race and building up to five stages in 2007. One of these stages was always a double stage. It was rated a 2.1 category race from 2005 to 2017 and a 2.WWT event in 2018 and 2019. The name of the race changed during the years, from 1988 to 2007 it was called Emakumeen Bira and from 2008 to 2011 Iurreta-Emakumeen Bira. The race ended after its 2019 edition. Zinaida Vladimirovna Stahurskaya (original name: Зинаида Владимировна Стагурская; also written as Zinaida Stagurskaya, Zinaida Stahurskaia or Zinaida Stagourskaya; 9 February 1971 – 25 June 2009) was a Belarusian racing cyclist who was the world champion in 2000. Stahurskaya was born in Vitebsk. She rode at the 1992 Summer Olympics for the Unified Team and at the 1996 Summer Olympics and the 2004 Summer Olympics for Belarus. Leontien Martha Henrica Petronella Zijlaard-van Moorsel (born 22 March 1970) is a Dutch retired racing cyclist. She was a dominant cyclist in the 1990s and early 2000s, winning four gold medals at the Olympic Games and holding the hour record for women from 2003 until 2015. Career Van Moorsel started her career in 1977. She won major races both on the track, and on the road. In the first half of the 1990s, she won the Tour Féminin twice, after fierce competition with Jeannie Longo. Van Moorsel dropped out of cycling in 1994 with anorexia nervosa but recovered to compete at the World Championships in 1998, winning the time trial and coming second in the road race. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, van Moorsel won gold medals on the road (road race and time trial), and on the track (3 km pursuit). Valentina Gerasimova (born May 15, 1948 in Quaraghandy, Quaraghandy Province, Kazakhstan) was a Soviet era track and field athlete specializing in middle distances. She competed in the 1976 Olympics. She entered the event as the world record holder, having run a 1:56.0 in Kiev just a month earlier in qualifying for the Olympics (though the mark had not yet been ratified as the world record, which it was after the Olympics). That time was a second and a half improvement on the previous record set by Bulgarian Svetla Zlateva and proved to be her personal best in the event.
