Doddanna (born 11 November 1949) is an Indian actor in the Kannada film industry who has acted in about 800 films. He started his career as a theatre actor. During this time, he entered the Kannada film industry as a character actor. Early life Doddanna was born on 11 November 1949. The youngest son in the family, He belongs to Lingayat community. he was named after his grandfather Kadle Doddappa. He started his career as a theatre actor with Vighneshwara Kala Sangha in Bhadravathi during which time he worked in a steel factory there. He, along with his friends had formed a theater troupe called Gandharva Ranga. Later, he entered the Kannada, Telugu and Tamil film industry. Career Doddanna is a versatile actor. He has portrayed villains, policemen and other characters. He has been especially successful as a comic actor. ''Yarigu Helbedi'' (transl. Don't Tell Anyone) is a 1994 Kannada comedy-drama film directed by Kodlu Ramakrishna. ''Anjada Gandu'' () is a 1988 Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy film produced by B N Gangadhar under the banner of ANS Productions and written and directed by Renuka Sharma. ''Bhairava'' is a 1994 Indian Kannada language Village backdrop romantic action film written and directed by Raj Kishor and produced by N. Kumar.
