Democratic Youth League Of Finland
The Left Youth (''Vasemmistonuoret'' in Finnish, ''Vänsterunga'' in Swedish) is a political youth organization in Finland. It is considered the youth wing of the Left Alliance, but it is not officially affiliated with the party - members of the Left Youth are not automatically members of the Left Alliance. The organization was founded in 1944. Until 1998, it was known as the Finnish Democratic Youth League (SDNL, ''Suomen demokraattinen nuorisoliitto'') and until 1990 it served as the youth organization of the now-defunct Finnish People's Democratic League (SKDL). Democratic Socialism
Democratic socialism is a left-wing political philosophy that supports political democracy and some form of a socially owned economy, with a particular emphasis on economic democracy, workplace democracy, and workers' self-management within a market socialist economy or an alternative form of a decentralised planned socialist economy. Democratic socialists argue that capitalism is inherently incompatible with the values of freedom, equality, and solidarity and that these ideals can only be achieved through the realisation of a socialist society. Markus Kainulainen
Markus Kainulainen (9 August 1922, Helsinki – 30 August 2017) was a Finnish communist politician. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Finland (SKP) and served as a Member of the Parliament of Finland from 1975 to 1979 and again from 1982 to 1983, representing the Finnish People's Democratic League (SKDL). After the SKP split in the 1980s, Kainulainen at first joined the Communist Party of Finland (Unity) (SKPy). The SKPy split in 1988 as well and Kainulainen was one of the leading organisers of a new party, Communist Workers' Party – For Peace and Socialism (KTP). Kainulainen was a member of the Central Committee of the SKP from 1966–1969 and 1970–1981 and a member of the Political Committee from 1966–1969 and 1970–1981. Anna-Liisa Tiekso-Isaksson
Anna-Liisa Korpinen ( Tiekso; 14 March 1929 – 20 September 2010) was a Finnish politician. She represented Lapland in the Parliament of Finland as a member of the Finnish People's Democratic League from 1951 to 1974. In 1968, she was appointed as Minister of Social Affairs by prime minister Mauno Koivisto, and was the Minister of Social Affairs and Health in prime minister Ahti Karjalainen's government from 1970 to 1971. Early life and education Tiekso was born on 14 March 1929 in Kemi, Finland. She was the daughter of a small farmer and a schoolteacher. She completed the Finnish matriculation exam in 1949 and enrolled at the University of Helsinki to study law. Around this time, Tiekso married Arne Isaksson, with whom she had two children, but they divorced in 1957.
