The Cruzados were a 1980s rock band from Los Angeles, California. History The Cruzados were formed in 1983 by the members of The Plugz, featuring members Tito Larriva, Tony Marsico, Steven Hufsteter, Chalo Quintana, The band's self-titled album on Arista Records, '' Cruzados'', was released in 1985 as well as their second album After Dark in 1987. The Cruzados also performed the song "Don't Throw Stones" in the 1989 movie '' Road House''. In 2021 the Cruzados released their third studio album “She’s Automatic” Tito Larriva performs with his band Tito & Tarantula and are best known for their appearance in the film “From Dusk Till Dawn”. After Dark (Cruzados Album)
''After Dark'' is the second album by the American band Cruzados, released in 1987. "Bed of Lies" reached No. 4 on ''Billboards Album Rock Tracks chart; "Small Town Love" peaked at No. 39. The band supported the album with a North American tour that included a leg opening for Fleetwood Mac. They broke up the following year. Production The album was produced by Greg Ladanyi, Waddy Wachtel, Rodney Mills, Tom Kelly, and Billy Steinberg. Marshall Rohner replaced Steven Hufsteter on lead guitar. "Road of Truth" contains contributions from J.D. Souther on backing vocals and Paul Butterfield on harmonica; Souther was in the same studio as Cruzados and told the band that he wanted to sing on the track. It was Butterfield's final recording. Tito Larriva
Humberto "Tito" Larriva (born 1953) is a Mexican/American songwriter, singer, musician, and actor. He came to prominence leading The Plugz, one of the earliest Los Angeles punk rock groups. Since the 1990s, his main musical outlet has been the Tito & Tarantula. Early life Larriva was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, and El Paso, Texas. As a child he played the violin in the school orchestra and sang in the church and school choirs where he met his wife Janet Carroll. In 1972 Larriva snuck into Yale University for a full term without being noticed. After being kicked out of the Ivy League university, he moved to Mexico City and in 1975 moved to Los Angeles, California. He now lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and daughter and continues to work in the music and film industries. Tony Marsico (born Nov.8th, 1957) is an American bassist/composer best known as co-founder of the rock and roll band the Cruzados formed in 1983. (two albums on Arista Records (1985,1987). Prior to Cruzados, Marsico was a member of the Los Angeles punk band the Plugz (1980-1983) who were best known for scoring the motion picture “Repo Man). Charlie Quintana
Gonzalo Quintana III (January 29, 1962 – March 12, 2018), also known as Charlie Quintana or Chalo, was an American rock and punk drummer. He is best known as a founding member of the band The Plugz and as the drummer for the punk rock band Social Distortion from 2000 to 2009. Career Quintana was born in El Paso, Texas. Marshall Rohner
Marshall Lambert Rohner (December 20, 1963 in Iowa – October 18, 2005 in Yucca Valley, California) was a guitarist whose credits include: T.S.O.L., The Cruzados, Jimmy and The Mustangs, Kenny Brown and Dino's Revenge. Rohner appeared in several videos in the early MTV days including "Live at the Ritz" with the Cruzados. Rohner was born in Iowa to Barbara Flaig and Lambert Rohner. The Plugz
The Plugz (also known as "Los Plugz") were a Latino punk band from Los Angeles that formed in 1977 and disbanded in 1984. They and The Zeros were among the first Latino punk bands, although several garage rock bands, such as Thee Midniters and Question Mark & the Mysterians, predated them. The Plugz melded the spirit of punk and Latino music. History The band was formed in 1977 and was a contemporary of the bands featured in the film ''The Decline of Western Civilization''.
