Correggio
Antonio Allegri da Correggio (August 1489 – 5 March 1534), usually known as just Correggio (, also , , ), was the foremost painter of the Parma school of the High Italian Renaissance, who was responsible for some of the most vigorous and sensuous works of the sixteenth century. In his use of dynamic composition, illusionistic perspective and dramatic foreshortening, Correggio prefigured the Baroque art of the seventeenth century and the Rococo art of the eighteenth century. Correggio ( Reggiano: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the Province of Reggio Emilia, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, in the Po valley. Lorenzo Allegri (painter)
Lorenzo Allegri (died 1527) was an Italian painter, working in the city of Correggio in the Duchy of Modena. Life Little is known of Lorenzo as an artist. He was, however, the uncle of Antonio Allegri da Correggio, and is often assumed to have given him his earliest artistic education. In 1503 he is recorded as painting a picture for the convent of San Francesco in Correggio. Some frescoes representing scenes from Ovid's ''Metamorphoses'' in the palace of Count Giberto in Correggio, painted in 1498 and signed , were also traditionally ascribed to him. They remained visible until the mid-18th century, but by the late 19th century, no works by him were known to survive. Pomponio Allegri (1521 – ) was an Italian painter, the son of Correggio. Life Pomponio was the son of Antonio Allegri da Correggio, and studied the first rudiments of art under his father before Correggio's death when he was thirteen years of age. He is said to have continued his studies after Correggio's death, under Francesco Maria Rondani the ablest disciple of his father. Pomponio inherited a considerable fortune from his father and grandfather, and appears for some time to have held a good position in the town of Correggio. Andrea Mantegna
Andrea Mantegna (, , ; September 13, 1506) was an Italian painter, a student of Roman archeology, and son-in-law of Jacopo Bellini. Like other artists of the time, Mantegna experimented with perspective, e.g. by lowering the horizon in order to create a sense of greater monumentality. The Basilica of Sant'Andrea is a Roman Catholic co-cathedral and minor basilica in Mantua, Lombardy (Italy). It is one of the major works of 15th-century Renaissance architecture in Northern Italy. Commissioned by Ludovico III Gonzaga, the church was begun in 1472 according to designs by Leon Battista Alberti on a site occupied by a Benedictine monastery, of which the bell tower (1414) remains.
