Continuum Fingerboard
The Continuum Fingerboard or Haken Continuum is a music performance controller and synthesizer developed by Lippold Haken, a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois, and sold by Haken Audio, located in Champaign, Illinois. The Continuum Fingerboard was initially developed from 1983 to 1998 at the CERL Sound Group at the University of Illinois, to control sound-producing algorithms on the Platypus audio signal processor and the Kyma/Capybara workstation. In 1999, the first Continuum Fingerboard was commercially sold. Until 2008, the Continuum Fingerboard provided IEEE-1394 (FireWire) connections to control a Kyma sound design workstation, as well as MIDI connections to control a MIDI synthesizer module. More recently, the Continuum Fingerboard generates audio directly in addition to providing MIDI connections for MIDI modules, software synthesizers, and Kyma (the IEEE-1394 connection that was present on earlier models has been removed). ...

Continuum Mechanics
Continuum mechanics is a branch of mechanics that deals with the mechanical behavior of materials modeled as a continuous mass rather than as discrete particles. The French mathematician Augustin-Louis Cauchy was the first to formulate such models in the 19th century. Explanation A continuum model assumes that the substance of the object fills the space it occupies. Modeling objects in this way ignores the fact that matter is made of atoms, and so is not continuous; however, on length scales much greater than that of inter-atomic distances, such models are highly accurate. These models can be used to derive differential equations that describe the behavior of such objects using physical laws, such as mass conservation, momentum conservation, and energy conservation, and some information about the material is provided by constitutive relationships. Continuum mechanics deals with the physical properties of solids and fluids which are independent of any particular coordinate sys ...

Q Continuum
Q is a fictional character, as well as the name of a race, in '' Star Trek'' appearing in the '' Next Generation'', '' Deep Space Nine'', '' Voyager'', '' Lower Decks'', and '' Picard'' series and in related media. The most familiar Q is portrayed by John de Lancie. He is an extra-dimensional being of unknown origin who possesses immeasurable power over time, space, the laws of physics, and reality itself, being capable of altering it to his whim. Despite his vast knowledge and experience spanning untold eons (and much to the exasperation of the object of his obsession), he is not above practical jokes for his own personal amusement, for a Machiavellian or manipulative purpose, or to prove a point. He is said to be almost completely omnipotent and he is continually evasive regarding his true motivations. The name "Q" applies to the names of the individuals portrayed (all male and female characters refer to each other as "Q"); it also applies to the name of their race and to the ...

Continuum (role-playing Game)
''Continuum: Roleplaying in the Yet'' (stylized as ''C°ntinuum: roleplaying in The Yet'') is a science fiction role-playing game about time travel created by Chris Adams, Dave Fooden and Barbara Manui and published by Aetherco/Dreamcatcher. The Continuum also refers to a collective group of time travelers as a whole and the society they inhabit in the game. Setting Unlike other time travel games (and fiction), which usually depict time travelers as either lone explorers or as an all-powerful " time police", ''Continuum'' assumes that time travelers (spanners) would eventually evolve their own society, with its own laws, rules, slang, groups, art movements, and the like. Time travel would color such a civilization in the same way that any other major technology (such as television or the automobile) has changed the human race. ''Continuum'' states that the core question of the game is "If you could learn to span time at will . . . ''what form of civilization would you be ent ...

Continuum (music Project)
Continuum is a collaborative Ambient music, ambient and Drone music, drone music project between Bass Communion (Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree) and Dirk Serries (of Vidna Obmana and Fear Falls Burning). The project looks to expand on the artists' "collective ambition and vision, motivated by their immense passion for a wide-range of musical styles, ranging from spacious ambience to pounding doom metal." Discography The first volume in the collaboration between Bass Communion and Vidna Obmana was originally limited to 25 Promotional recording, promotional copies. However, the promotional copies sold quickly, leading to the pressing of a 1,000 copy official release. The album is packaged in a book sized digipack designed by Lasse Hoile. The difference between promotional copies and the official release is a small black line through the bar code. A second edition of 1,000 copies was released in July 2008.

Biography and career Founded in New York City in 1966 by pianists Cheryl Seltzer and Joel Sachs, Continuum is a chamber music ensemble that focuses on performing and recording classical music by composers from the 20th and 21st centuries. Performing in their native New York City, and around the world, Continuum aims "to expand the audience for recent music," and performs and records both well-known contemporary composers as well as many lesser-known composers. Initially performing works by composers such as Bartók, Stravinsky, Ravel, and Debussy, Continuum branched out to feature works by Cowell, Ives, Seeger, Thomson, and many others. Continuum often performs "retrospective concerts," which focus on a range of works by a single composer. "Exploring a broad range of their work, such concerts offer the listener deep insights into a composer's development." ...

Continuum Hypothesis
In mathematics, the continuum hypothesis (abbreviated CH) is a hypothesis about the possible sizes of infinite sets. It states that or equivalently, that In Zermelo–Fraenkel set theory with the axiom of choice (ZFC), this is equivalent to the following equation in aleph numbers: 2^=\aleph_1, or even shorter with beth numbers: \beth_1 = \aleph_1. The continuum hypothesis was advanced by Georg Cantor in 1878, and establishing its truth or falsehood is the first of Hilbert's 23 problems presented in 1900. The answer to this problem is independent of ZFC, so that either the continuum hypothesis or its negation can be added as an axiom to ZFC set theory, with the resulting theory being consistent if and only if ZFC is consistent. This independence was proved in 1963 by Paul Cohen, complementing earlier work by Kurt Gödel in 1940. The name of the hypothesis comes from the term '' the continuum'' for the real numbers. History Cantor believed the continuum hypothesis t ...

Continuum (Mentallo & The Fixer Album)
''Continuum'' is a compilation album by Mentallo & The Fixer, released on November 14, 1995 by Metropolis Records. The collection also draws from the band's first two releases, 1991's ''Wreckage + Ruin + & + Regrets + (Redemption)'' and 1992's '' No Rest for the Wicked''. On February 16, 2018 the album was issued as a music download by Alfa Matrix on the label's Bandcamp. Reception Sonic Boom was somewhat positive towards ''Continuum'', calling the album "more of a greatest hits & misses compilation released so that the fans might have an idea of where the band has come from musically" and that "some tracks have the distinct MATF feel to them and others are quite unlike anything else they have ever written before." Continuum (game Client)
''SubSpace'' is a 2D space shooter video game created in 1995 and released in 1997 by Virgin Interactive which was a finalist for the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Online Game of the Year Award in 1998. ''SubSpace'' incorporates quasi-realistic zero-friction physics into a massively multiplayer online game. It is no longer operated by VIE; instead, fans and players of the game provide servers and technical updates. The action is viewed from above, which presents challenges very different from those of a three-dimensional game. The game has no built-in story or set of goals; players may enter a variety of servers, each of which have differing objectives, maps, sounds, and graphics. ''SubSpace'' is considered an early entry in the massively multiplayer online genre due to its unprecedented player counts. History ''SubSpace'' evolved from a game originally called ''Sniper'' (1995), a project to test the effects and severity of lag in a massively multiplayer environment ...
