Charlotte Rampling
Tessa Charlotte Rampling (born 5 February 1946) is an English actress, known for her work in European arthouse films in English, French, and Italian. An icon of the Swinging Sixties, she began her career as a model. She was cast in the role of Meredith in the 1966 film '' Georgy Girl'', which starred Lynn Redgrave. She soon began making French and Italian arthouse films, notably Luchino Visconti's '' The Damned'' (1969) and Liliana Cavani's '' The Night Porter'' (1974). She went on to star in many European and English-language films, including '' Stardust Memories'' (1980); in '' The Verdict'' (1982); '' Long Live Life'' (1984), and '' The Wings of the Dove'' (1997). In the 2000s, she became the muse of French director François Ozon, appearing in several of his films, notably '' Swimming Pool'' (2003). 2016 Cannes Film Festival
The 69th Cannes Film Festival was held from 11 to 22 May 2016. Australian director George Miller was the President of the Jury for the main competition. French actor Laurent Lafitte was the host for the opening and closing ceremonies. On 15 March it was announced that Japanese director Naomi Kawase would serve as the Cinéfondation and Short Film Jury president. American director Woody Allen's film ''Café Society'' opened the festival. The Palme d'Or was awarded to the British film '' I, Daniel Blake'' directed by Ken Loach, which also served as closing film of the festival. The Volpi Cup for Best Actress is an award presented by the Venice Film Festival. It is given by the festival jury in honor of an actress who has delivered an outstanding performance from the films in the competition slate. It is named in honor of Count Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata, the founder of the festival. The 1st ceremony was held in 1932, when Helen Hayes received the Volpi Cup for the title role in ''The Sin of Madelon Claudet'' (1931)—this was the only time that the award was chosen by public voting. Screen Actors Guild Awards (also known as SAG Awards) are accolades given by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
