Cardiff Comedy Festival
The Cardiff Comedy Festival is organised by Scott Fitzgerald, Tom Wakeham, Richard Balshaw, Johnny Disco and Matt Price. As well as showcasing established, mainly Welsh, acts, the Festival also aims to nurture new talent, and in 2010 premiered the first Welsh Unsigned Standup Awards. 2009 Festival The 2009 Festival ran from 21–26 July 2009, and was based entirely at O'Neill's bar. The heart of the festival was 10 Edinburgh preview shows. Featured artistes included * Rhod Gilbert with support from Ellis James and James Gordillo * Sketch troupe The Plastic Seat Company * Matt Price * Nick Page * Wil Hodgson * Pat Monahan * Craig Campbell 2010 Festival Although previous attempts to launch a comedy festival in Cardiff had failed, and promoters had in the past lost money on the venture, the 2009 Festival was sufficiently successful for the organisers to stage a larger event in 2010. Rhod Gilbert
Rhodri Paul Gilbert (born 18 October 1968) is a Welsh comedian and television & radio presenter who was nominated in 2005 for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award. In 2008 he was nominated for the main comedy award (as the Edinburgh Comedy Awards were then branded). Gilbert appears on television and radio panel shows, has performed stand-up on the Royal Variety Performance, and hosted a weekly show on BBC Radio Wales. In September 2014 Gilbert started presenting the BBC Two panel show ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks'', ending a run of five series without a permanent host, although the show ended in May 2015. Nick Page (comedian)
Nick Page is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera '' Neighbours'', played by Mark Stevens. He made his first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 22 July 1988. Stevens auditioned for the role alongside forty one other actors and successfully made it through screen-tests. Nick is characterised as a tough orphan who is made homeless following the death of his grandmother. Nick is also portrayed as problematic and wayward, causing trouble for other characters in the show. Stevens has stated in different interviews that he self-identifies with Nick's tough persona. Writers created stories for Nick which eventually lead to him becoming a "nicer" character. His stories see him fostered by Helen Daniels ( Anne Haddy) and moving in with her family. Wil Hodgson
Wil Hodgson (born 1978) is a non-binary English comedian. They have lived in Chippenham their whole life and began performing comedy in 2003. Prior to this, they had worked part-time as a lecturer at Wiltshire College and had a stint training to be a wrestler during which they participated in 30-man "Battle Royals". Hodgson is known for their fast and almost monotone delivery which, along with their bizarre persona, has been known to divide audiences. they are also known for their bright pink hair (until recently, a mohican) and their love of 1980s girl's toys such as Care Bears and My Little Pony. Patrick Monahan (comedian)
Patrick Monahan (born 23 June 1976) is an Irish-Iranian comedian, who won the television competition series ''Take the Mike'' in 2001 and '' Show Me the Funny'' in 2011. He has performed regularly at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Monahan also holds the world record for "Longest Hug" at a time of 25 hours and 25 minutes, alongside fellow comedian Bob Slayer. They set this record at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013. Lloyd Langford (born 6 August 1983) is a Welsh comedian, comedy writer and voice artist. Early life and education Langford was born in Baglan, Neath Port Talbot. Jo Caulfield
Josephine Caulfield (born 26 September 1965) is a British actress, writer and comedian. Biography Born in Wales to Irish parents, she was brought up in Derbyshire and Leicestershire, England. At 17, Caulfield moved to London. For two years she lived in a squat in Kilburn Park, West London, and played drums in a rockabilly band. Pappy's is a British three-man comedy act, composed of comedians Ben Clark, Matthew Crosby and Tom Parry. The sketch troupe previously performed shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, but now mostly talk on podcasts about balconies and spaghetti.
