CFCB
CFCB (570 Hertz, kHz) is an AM broadcasting, AM radio station in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It broadcasts at a power of 10,000 watts by day and 1,000 watts at night. Owned by Stingray Group, CFCB first went on the air on October 3, 1960. The station was founded by Dr. Noel Murphy (politician), Noel Murphy. On March 26, 2012, CFCB rebranded, which included a new slogan, logo and programming. The "Local News Now" slogan was adopted from VOCM (AM), VOCM in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's, which had rebranded just weeks before. The new CFCB logo also features the VOCM color scheme, which includes yellow and red. As of March 9, 2022, CFCB no longer originates any local programming from Corner Brook following the closure of its studios and termination of on-air personnel by Stingray. Churchill Falls
Churchill Falls is a high waterfall on the Churchill River in Labrador, Canada. Formerly counted among the most impressive natural features of Canada, the diversion of the river for the Churchill Falls Generating Station has cut off almost all of the falls' former flow, leaving a small stream winding through its old bed and trickling down the rocks. Names John McLean called the cascades the , as the Churchill River at that time was usually still known as the Grand River as a calque of its Indigenous name. Wabush
Wabush is a small town in the western tip of Labrador, bordering Quebec, known for transportation and iron ore operations. Economy Wabush is the twin community of Labrador City. At its peak population in the late 1970s, the region had a population of just over 22,000. A reduction in iron mining operations in the late 20th century caused a major decline in jobs and population. Labrador City
Labrador City is a town in western Labrador (part of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador), near the Quebec border. With a population of 7,412 as of 2021, it is the second-largest population centre in Labrador, behind Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Neighbouring Labrador City is Wabush, a smaller town with a population of approximately 1,964 as of 2021. Together, the "twin towns" are known as Labrador West. AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions.
