Bonobono
is a yonkoma manga series by Mikio Igarashi. From March 1986 to March 1987, the series ran in the Takeshobo manga magazine ''Tensai Club'' before the magazine was replaced with ''Manga Club'', where it had been serialized from April 1987 to April 2020. It is also been serialized in '' Manga Life'' since April 1986. It has been adapted into an anime television series, as well as two anime films and two video games. While the series is considered a yonkoma manga, most of the "stories" use eight panels. The series follows the main character, a young sea otter after whom the manga is titled, and his daily adventures with his friends from the nearby forest. ''Bonobono'' combines gag comic and philosophical questions, bringing up comparisons to other manga such as '' Azumanga Daioh'', and to films such as ''Forrest Gump''. Mikio Igarashi
is a Japanese manga artist born 13 January 1955 in the town of Nakaniida (now Kami), Kami District, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, though he lives in the city of Sendai. He is best known for his manga series '' Bonobono'' and ''Ninpen Manmaru''. In 1988, he won the Kodansha Manga Award for general manga for ''Bonobono'' and the Shogakukan Manga Award for children's manga for ''Ninpen Manmaru''. They worked on movies, videos, TV shows, and commercials, and contributed to all stages of the process, including planning, production, sound effects, and so on. Kodansha Manga Award
is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha. It is currently awarded in three categories: '' shōnen'', '' shōjo'', and general. The awards began in 1977, initially with categories for ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo''. The first award for the general category was in 1982, and the first children's category's award was in 2003. The children's category was merged into the ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo'' categories starting in 2015. is a Japanese '' yonkoma'' comedy manga series written and illustrated by Kiyohiko Azuma. It was serialized from February 1999 to May 2002 in the monthly magazine ''Dengeki Daioh'' by MediaWorks; three additional chapters were published in Shogakukan's ''Monthly Shōnen Sunday'' in May 2009 to celebrate the manga's tenth anniversary. The manga was first released in English by ADV Manga, and later re-issued by Yen Press. Anime Web Turnpike (also known as Anipike) was a web directory founded in August 1995 by Jay Fubler Harvey. It served as a large database of links to various anime and manga websites. With well over 40,000 links, it had one of the largest organized collection of anime and manga related links. Users could add their own website to the database by setting up a username on the site and adding it to the applicable category. The website also had services such as a community forum, chat room and a magazine. The Anime Broadcasting Network, Inc. acquired the Anime Web Turnpike in 2000 with plans to enhance and expand the site, but multiple technical issues delayed these plans. As of Nov 2014, the site has gone offline. The site was back online as of July 2016, with no new posts since 2014. As of March 2021, the website has not been updated.
