Bonalu
Bonalu is a traditional Hindu festival centered on the Goddess Mahakali from Telangana. This festival is celebrated annually in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as in other parts of the state. It is celebrated in the month of Ashada Masam, which is around July and/or August. Special "poojas" (worship/ ceremonies) are performed for Yellamma (one of the many regional forms of Mahakali) on the first and last day of the festival. The festival is also considered a thanksgiving to the Goddess for fulfillment of vows. The word ''Bonam'' is a contraction of the word ''Bhojanam'', a Sanskrit loanword which means a meal or a feast in Telugu. It is an offering to the Mother Goddess. Women prepare rice cooked with milk and jaggery in a new brass or earthen pot adorned with neem leaves, turmeric, vermilion and a lit lamp on top of the pot. Secunderabad
Secunderabad, also spelled as Sikandarabad (, ), is a twin city of Hyderabad and one of the six zones of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the Indian state of Telangana. It is the headquarters of the South Central Railway zone. Named after the Mir Akbar Ali Khan Sikander Jah, Asaf Jah III, Nizam of the Asaf Jahi dynasty, Secunderabad was established in 1806 as a British cantonment. Lal Darwaza
Lal Darwaza (Red Gate) is one of the old suburbs or Inner City in Hyderabad, India. History Lal Darwaza was built in 1907. Prime Minister of Nizam government Maharaja Kishan Pershad started the Bonalu festival from this temple. Ujjaini Mahakali Temple
Sri Ujjaini Mahakali Temple is a temple in the Secunderabad area in Telangana,India, is 191 years old. Devotees offer prayers to the goddess every day. Hyderabad State
Hyderabad State () was a princely state located in the south-central Deccan region of India with its capital at the city of Hyderabad. It is now divided into the present-day state of Telangana, the Kalyana-Karnataka region of Karnataka, and the Marathwada region of Maharashtra in India. Shah-Ali-Banda
Shah Ali Banda is a part in Hyderabad, India. It forms a part of the Old City, Hyderabad area located close to Charminar. It is about 2 kilometers south of the Charminar. Akkanna Madanna Temple
Akkanna Madanna Temple is a Hindu temple located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is popular during the festival of Bonalu that is celebrated in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Old City (Hyderabad, India)
The Old City of Hyderabad is a walled city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India, located on the banks of the Musi River built by Qutb Shahi sultan Muhammed Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 AD. Golconda Fort
Fort (Telugu: గోల్కొండ, romanized: ''Gōlkōnḍa'') is a historic fortress and ruined city located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was originally called Mankal. The fort was originally built by Kakatiya ruler Pratāparudra in the 11th century out of mud walls.
